+1 for the Ongar-Rodings-Gt Dunmow-Finchingfield route. The back roads looping back through Thaxted and onto Stansted/Bishops Stortford are pretty decent too.

Finchingfield is a pretty little village worhy of being on biscuit tins, but it doesn't half get invaded by bikers on weekends! The pub and tea shops make a bomb though, so they're not complaining.

Be warned though - lots of police presence on the Ongar-Finchingfield stretch.

Lol! Depends on when you go, I s'pose. Not seen any on midweek evening runs but often see them on weekends. Last time out we came across 4-5 marked bike cops patrolling around High Roding.

There's also signs along that route warning of police helicopters monitoring bikers, but never noticed a 'copter. Then again, I'm not normally looking up!

i live not that far from finchingfield you see the odd old bill but i can honestly say i havent seen any for a couple of years, there was a bit in the mcn about finchingfield 3 or 4 years ago it was policed then and thats when the helicoptor signs went up, when leaving finchingfield go over the little hump bridge and keep right up the steep hill past the church nice roads that way.

Finchingfield is a pretty village little fact standing on the green near the tea shop looking over the pond up to the church is the most photographed place in the UK.

I ride the 272 all the time in a style most would frown upon... And all I hear is it's full of police, but never had a problem, yeah they set up in villages and 40 zones sometime but that's fair game and the same everywhere...

Rye is the same, people go on about that but I rarely see police that way, it's like heartbeat! Lol

Think it's all the same everywhere tbh
