I think TomTom Rider comes with a scala headset (bluetooth) so you can hear the directions.

Sam i got this one TomTom RIDER PRO EUROPE GPS SAT NAV SYSTEM - BLACK review cheap prices TomTom RIDER EUROPE GPS SAT NAV SYSTEM - BLACK best buy discount online uk shop

But it dosen't come with a charging ( Active ) doc/mount, cradle or whatever you want to call it, These are £50-£60, and i dont think you can put mp3 through it. I'll be using mine in a few weeks when i go to Ireland, Oh yeah one little problem i have found is if you put your lid on and off a few times it hurts your lugholes ( ears ) a bit with the speakers in your helmet. Unless it's because i have ears like an elephant.

The scala isn't a MP3/Sat Nav, more the interface for you to hear the Sat Nav instructions/MP3 player/phone etc from your bluetooth devices, able to connect multiple items at once. It does work as an intercom and has a built in radio- Sorry if i've missed read your question?

Okay, so if i understand right..

My Tomtom can connect to the Scarla - for voice instructions, and so can my phone for music..

does it look like the one in the pic, or is there a more smaller discreet version available? that mic does look big!

Tbh, I've had trouble linking my phone and garmin at the same time, think it's because the scala see's the garmin as a phone, so I link the phone I the garmin and the garmin to the scala, I have an iPod I link at the same time for music- may just be the way I've set it up. I'm sure there's now a g9, understand the main difference to the g4 is the amount of units you can connect over the intercom system. You can get a different boom sets for a full face helmet where the mic's smaller, I have two one on a shoei one on an arai, no issues with the size, both the larger type.

It is small Sam. The microphone tucks inside your lid, and is not noticeable.

Here's mine mounted on the side:

If you look at the bikes, you'll see the iphones mounted in waterproof cases, this is all you need for sat nav, mp3/music, phone calls using either voice dial or normal dialing and answering ( you just need to say "hello" when the phone rings in the helmet, and you're on the phone) and intercom between 6 bikes.

You need to link the phone to the sat nav, then the sat nav to the scala.

I use an iphone, which has the tomtom app on it, so i use just the phone, mp3, sat nav, intercom.. It relays the sat nav instructions to the scala, if anyone phones, it interrupts that, then the intercom, then the mp3. The scala uses priority management, so the phone is always first, then sat nav, intercom, mp3.

I couldnt get on with that mic in the picture so i ordered the lot smaller one that sticks the chin guard with velcro i find it loads better on my arai lid.

Never thought of that one Si!

I have a iphone, will download the tomtom app and see how this goes...first..

Is the Scala easy to use? and does the headset sty fitted in the lid?

How do you talk with other bikers?
