Fitted a chinese kit to my repsol. £2400 for honda originals, £360 for the cheapo. I'm a skint bastid and the bike is 7 yr old. The fit is surprisingly good but the paintwork just isnt 'deep' enough. But what would you expect? Also the colour doesnt match the wheels. Overall though, I cant fault them for the money. I have also tested them at over 150mph with jumps.......er, on a track, obviously.
I looked at them and decided against it due to people complaining about panels not fitting properly. I went for the more expensive option of full bike respray lol
I bought the Rothmans set for mine but I was quite tempted by this set too: Fit Honda 06 07 CBR1000RR CBR 1000 RR 2006 2007 Fairing Kit ABS Plastics e11 FS | eBay I'll add some pictures of mine up in a few minutes, I found the fit and finish to be excellent.
very nice.I was raging when I done my west scheme as the uk seller for the chineses fairings was on the same site and about two weeks later they satrted selling them and the decal placement was near exact to mine even when mine wasnt an exact copy of the race bike. know loads of people that have the fairings fitted and havent had any problems but I do hear some scare stories.my seat unit and levers are chinese and tbh I cant fault them quality wise and this was my first time buying non branded stuff.
Mine are ok, they have lasted 12 months, split in a few places, I had identical fitting problems to another lad with the same set of Rothmans - sure a bit more time / skill at fitting time would help, have seen a similar kit on an 2008 that HAD fitted perfectly. I look at it this way, for about £350 - £400 you get a FULL set of plastics. I may even look for another set and sell this one on ebay, but my bike looks perfect from 10' away or more.
I know I'm resurrecting another old thread here, but I've finally bought a genuine spare fairing set ready to be dropped off at the bodyshop. I'm thinking of having done in plain gloss white and then buying this sticker kit:- to have it look like this:- I can't show you haw it should look on the bike yet as I can't find a photo, but if anyone has any tips on what to ask of the bodyshop or knows of a better sticker kit then let me know. The total cost should be around the same as an aftermarket kit, but with the benfit of knowing that it will fit propely and won't split when I fit it.
Decal kit looks good - i'd try that on your new bodywork first before you spend a fortune on paint. Kit looks very comprehsive and good call getting original stuff.
Don't make the mistake my mate did, he took his bike to a really good body shop who has painted some really nice cars, unfortunately bikes use different paints that are made to flex so it started to ally crack and flake off after a bit of time
