i bought a fireblade on a foreign (lithuanian) number plates. in order to get in registered in uk (apart from the ordinary MOT) it has to pass a vosa Motorcycle Single Vehicle Approval test. i know that some guidance notes can be found on dft webside but wanna know how strick that test is. my blade is slightly modified (for example decat downpipes, integrated indicators in tail light, no number plate light etc.). my biggest concern is the exhaust gases emission and i really need to pass that test at first attempt but dont fancy striping the bike down again to change the downpipes if its not really necessary.
If anybody had in the past anything to do with it PLEASE HEEEEEEEEELP!!!!!!!!!!!

if it would pass an MOT it will pass an SVA test.never done a bike but done a few imported cars.

not sure it'll pass without a light on the reg plate plate though.

had a couple of imported monkey bikes done a few years ago and he did go over it thorough. what he was strict on was things like vin numbers reflectors, lights, speedo/milometers and he did measure the distance between indicaters so i would probably change your rear light for the test and sort number plate light.. it all depends on the tester but you do get the option to retest on failed items only as you would an mot. wouldnt like to guess about your exhaust and cat but mine failed as no E number on exhaust system. mine were new bikes that had never been registered but the rules may differ for a bike previously registered abroad. good luck!

    thanks for the answers guys.
i have changed the headlight unit for the uk one and speedo shows in mph, but:
-do they just check if the speedo units are in mph or do they test it for accuracy as well (as i have -1 front / +2 rear sprockets)?
-i will also fit the stock silencer for the test but would it pass on emissions having no catalytic converter in downpipes?
I know it can be retested at a small price. I had it insured on vin number to be able to ride it to vosa test station in birmingham ( just sold my car so cant take the bike on a trailer there) and have two weeks to provide my insurer with Reg No. otherwise my policy would be cancelled. so it really must be passed at first go because the awaiting times for a retest is about 2 week.

they have got the facility to calibrate speedo,s but would only do it if they had any reason to doubt it was inaccurate. they didn,t test mine for emissions just that it was E approved. all test inspectors vary so its just luck of the draw.

    thanks mate
i think i will just fit the stock silencer and standard size rear sprocket, just bought the rear number plate light on ebay, few more things needing sorting out are the rear indicators and red reflector.
i wonder how many times am i gonna get stopped on M6 by the cops on my way to the test station not having number plate on my bike:)
