Sorry to hijack the thread, but listen to this b.ll.cks.

Been on at the misses for ages to take her car in to get a couple of slow punctures looked at, what a waste of breath. So yesterday I took the car myself down to Watlins to see if they could be repaired.

Good news is that both could have been repaired, bad news is that the love of my life has driven the car with flat tyres and fcked the inside walls, these are tyres that were replaced less than 4k ago.

Dude in Watlins gives me some prices and says that he can do a couple for £100 each, so I go with those. The tyres get fitted, I go to pay and the dude says "sorry mate, I've made a mistake and the lowest I can do those for is £126 each" WFT was my reaction, that's a 26% increase, the dude just looks at me and tries to give me an overview of the system he's looking, that these tyres retail at £160 each and how the mistakes happened. As I was due out for a meal last night I didn't have time to tell them to take the tyres off and replace them with what was my original choice of Avons @ £98 each. So I call my mate Jimbo who just laughs!

I must be some sort of mug to have let that happened, Cheers for the reminder mate, I'd only just calmed down. Anyway, hows ya disc? ;)

made me laugh just as much the second time!!

yep - same bunch of c*nts that put my rear caliper on wrong and warped the disk - maidstone watlins is officially boycotted. shame as years gone by they have been nothing but sound.

OK, back to the subject at hand...

The Blade did it again... Coolant pissing out after shutting off... 104 degrees temp when I shut her off this morning...

Because it was dry I could trace where it came from... It is an overflow tube which exits on the left side of the fairing, just in front of the side stand...

The tube goes from that fairing, up through the front sprocket cover and heads in the direction of the coolant reservoir, but under the tank so i can't trace it perfectly...

Yesterday at a traffic light the temp got to 108 and stayed there... Fan is working, cools to 84-86 once I get moving again...

SO, my question is... How do I fix this?? Full coolant drain and replace??

I hope I can still make the 29th ride out but looks doubtful now as my service is booked for 10th August... Unless I can go to OMC and get some help to replace the coolant in the meanwhile...

    Any advice appreciated!!!! Please??

How quickly does it climb to 100+ degrees?

Mine has got to 108 once but I was sat still quite some time on a very hot day!
I reckon it may just be some air in the system

    Takes a while...
Maybe 20 minutes of riding, and only climbs that high stopped at traffic lights... I ride in London traffic, so lots of traffic lights and not very fast riding, so not alot of air cooling... As soon as I get moving to around 40MPH it goes back down to 84-86 degrees...

Is this because if the hoses are loose that air can be getting in?? If so, then wouldn't coolant leak out from that area as well?? The only place the coolant comes from is the overflow tube...

I will top up the coolant this weekend, take the rad cap off and rev it a bit to see if it gets any air out of the system... Is that the right thing to do??

Im not sure about with bikes but on a car you run it for a bit with the rad cap off while running and it should get rid of it

Tried what you said, Martin, radiator was pretty much full at the time...

Bike warms up as before, within same time, and has not gone over 108 degrees sitting at a traffic light (yet), and runs at 84 degrees when moving... Same as before...

Just that when I shut off, coolant comes out the overflow... Today there was much burbling and bubbling sounds from the process of pissing overflow... Cuz the reserve is pretty much empty... Just gonna limp her home tonight... Let Honda sort that shit out, cuz I don't know how to fix this... No sense filling the reserve, cuz it will jsut piss out again...

I figure it has to be an air lock somewhere in the system not allowing the reserve fluid to return into the engine... But that is a guess...

Anyone think I should argue that this should be dealt with under warranty??? Only had the bike since March 2012... Used bike bought from dealer with extended warranty... And I have not touched the cooling system in all those months then all of a sudden this happens...
