I've just ordered a smaller plate for my new bike in readiness for a tail tidy, when I decide which to go for. Anyway I usually go for a 7x5 but this time I've ordered a 7.5x 5.5 half an inch bigger, my thinking is that the little bit extra may encourage the boys in blue to leave me be?

I've got an 8x6 specially for Wales, still looks massive, bigger now in comparison to the new tail:

7x5 still looks big on it.

I go for the black border when I get mine made up, as it makes it look a bit smaller still. Every little helps!

i guess it's to do with being able to go out and riding thier bike with out worrying about being pulled/fined for something as stupid as a small plate.bikes are fast+loud enough to attract undue attention already, why add to the list.

On a slightly related note, where do you guys get your plates made?

I used an on-line "Show Plate" maker a few years back, to tart up my old blade... the quality was AWFUL... I could've done better myself by putting a lump of plastic through an inkjet. It was so crap, I never bothered to fit it.

Any suggestions on where to get a good one made?

I've always used bike-plate.com. Always had great service from them, and the plates look great.

(as mentioned above, getting the black border makes them look smaller)
