I need to remove the nose cowl to enable me to solder in my gear change indicator. I’m familiar with my old RR5 however, my 2011 RA ABS is different and I would appreciate any advise. What bolts need to be removed and is there anything I need to be careful of? I assume the wiring behind the clock is the same as the 2008-2010 model because Acumen do not have a 2011 wiring diagram? Thanks guys
No particular advice on the cowl carl but IIRC you were also thinking about a high screen?? When you put that cowl back on you need to be extra careful tightening those mirror bolts, and i'm sure there is a preferable sequence....screen then mirrors or mirrors then screen - someone else will come along and advise. Many a person before you has cracked their top cowl by getting it wrong - they crack around the mirror mounts and bang, your down £200!. You look at ebay, there are more cracked cowls for sale than good ones!
Why not return yours and buy the GIPRO that takes about 5 mins to fit. Plugged into the loom programmed in about 2 mins job done!
Good idea but I've had this Acumen on 2 previous bikes and it's therefore free to me otherwise I would.
If you go onto Honda Cbr 1000rr forum there is a thread that shows you how to remove it without taking off the lower fairings as well, just search top fairing removal in the mods and upgrades for 08-11, there are pictures as well
Carl. Hello mate how’s it going, blood pressure gone back down since the "slip up" at the weekend. Have a look in the maintenance section, sticky section, and you will find the full Honda maintenance manual to down load. Hope to see you for a ride out some time soon. All the best mate.
Good evening David, I'm well thanks. Just about calmed down? I have a tail tidy on the way so if it rains all weekend I can occupy myself if I can't ride? Hope you and ling are well?
They have given out riding weather all weekend Carl So I know what I will be doing still need to order my tail tidy, put on my Crash bungs, and get an Acumen or GiPro? but what the hell, i can't miss out on some decent weather, lets hope they are correct for once Awesome bike btw mate
Good evening Simon, I concerned about the environment, the fuel wasted dragging that sail of a number plate around the countryside? It's got to go ASAP
I wish I had one as standard; I am constantly going for another gear but don’t really like add ons that look like add ons if you know what I mean.
Well yeah they tell you what gear your in! Every been riding along and wasn't sure what gear your in? Defiantly not for looks!
Lol careful sam your get yourself another nomination for the numpty award! Carl on the RR5 you only have to remove the screen, is it not the same on newer models?
When your soldering in there not enough room with just the screen taken off, on the 2011 the is not nearly enough room.
Hiya Carl, Ling and I are fine thank you. Having spent all that money on your new scoot is it not worth investing another few quid on a plug and play rather than mucking around with cut and shutting and risking buggering up the warranty ?
Removing the nose cowl on my 2011 is easy.... First remove the infills of the air tubes (next to each top fork leg) they have 3 pop in plastic screws, just push the middle in with a little screw driver. Then once they are removed then remove the mirrors.... and un pluge eachin turn Then remove the screen Then remove the little black cowling under the lights Now the nose cone is ready to be removed, whilst removing it then you need to unplug the wiring loom which is on the LHS of the bike and unplug the air tubes too ( i have removed all of those with the flapper mod) I hope this helps?? Be careful when re-assembiling not to crack the nose cone where the mirrors attach. Jay
