For some reason I have the urge to sell my 2011 repsol blade and buy a 2012 Yamaha R6!!!!!!!!! Got into my head the R6 will be more fun at lower speeds!! And maybe I'll keep my licence for longer. I have always liked the newer shape R6. I know you are all going to say I'm mad aren't you? Not ridden a R6 yet. So your thoughts?
I tired a 2009 R6 and great bike, but too frantic on the road. You really have to use the rpm to make progress. Handles and stops superbly, but more suited to the track. For fun at lower speeds, I couldn't fault the KTM Superduke. However, that is just my opinion!
you'd be buying one for all the wrong reasons!! i had a 2008 and dare i say it prob the most fun bike i've had - was immense, but the way it rides and handles its certainly not for slow speeds and will encourage more hooligan behaviour than the blade ever will. stick with the blade if its civilised your after... I miss mine...
IMO the only thing that keeps you from loosing your licence in the first place is comunication between your brain and your right hand. If you can't trust either of them? Well The choice is yours at the end of the day.
I agree with Garyb most modern bikes will lose you your licence, i put a depoist down on a brand new WGP R6 but got messed about by dealer so pulled the plug and brought the 2011 HRC, in some ways i regret not getting the R6, i had a brand new one back in 2001 and still miss that bike, i have had all sorts of bikes since 2001 but still hanker over a R6, if your some one who doesnt like to cain a bike forget it and be flying round B roads in 3rd gear at about 12/14000rpm forget it (the blade you will be in 4th doin 6000rpm) I think come next march i will look for a low mile WGP r6 if i dont like it its only a trade in away, life to short if you want one go for it.
Ok some of you are getting the wrong end of the stick! On the blade you just can't redline it all over the place! Over 100mph in 1st gear! On the R6 I'd be using the gears more and not hitting silly speeds so quick if that makes sense?
1st gear on an R6 will still see you over 80mph before you start bouncing it off the limiter snick it into second and your still over a ton. I see where your coming from? You'd rather loose your licence in second on an R6 than 1st on a blade. I'd go for a 125cc you can screw that into the redline all the way Seriously though if it's screwing the arse off the bike you want? Perhaps a track day to get it out your system. Mine ain't seen west side of 7000 8000 revs. I find it's the torque I love on the blade not the high rev. Used to rag my gsxr 750 when I was out with the 1000's Upshot I sounded to be going quick but reality all I was doing was spending £10-15 more on fuel a day. It did sound good though
Ok dealer just called me! Straight swap for a 2012 (12 plate) R6 with akra fitted, r&g's, asv levers tail tidy and seat cowl. Bike has 1800miles on the clock! Or I can have a brand new R6 for my bike and £200!! My head is spinning now!
+1 I had a 600rr that I used to ride like a hooligan . They are made to scream and sound awesome when they do . Going slow don't feel right on a 600
i would go for the 1st option, what have you been offered for the blade by a dealer?? how many miles does your blade have on it?
mines the non abs with 5300 miles non honda dealers offering around the 7k mark, honda on a new blade around the 8k mark.
That's the point!! You will be, you'll just live between 8 - 15 rpm... Simples! And that bike in that rev range is as quick as any... My pals all had 1000's and without blowing smoke up my ass, I nailed them! That bike is a weapon... Sedate doesnt come in to the equation... If you want to protect you points, look elsewhere!
I had a 2009 R6 and trust me you will still be hitting silly speeds and have as much chance of losing your licence! KEEP THE BLADE!
I've always had 600's GSXR's, R6's 675 and I found that my 2011 blade is equally as capable as the 600's on track, just takes a tad more effort. I find the blade much better for road riding having the extra torque and being a little more settled over rougher tarmac. I would never go back to a 6 now. I would get out on a good test ride or borrow a friends for a day before you take the plunge. you could also consider chaging the gearing on your blade if your looking to make it more revvy.
Nooooooooooooooo What R6 are u getting? Pics? Colour I hope you like the change though fella and I don't see a thread in a few months after 15000 rpm all the time titled. "why did i sell the repsol"
