Right fed up with the stone chips in the front bike so have ordered a new nose cone. I have never taken off or fitted a nose cone before so I'm hoping someone could give me some advise for removel and fitting. Does the whole fairing need to come off? Any week points I should avoid? Should I take on the job myself or pay someone to fit for me? Any advise appretiated Thanks in advance Martin
here is the workshop manual I uploaded Free Cloud Storage - MediaFire its really simple to do and bits dont break off or crack like the new blades.
Wicked thanks, just read your post about that! Do you reckon it was just a bad one or they just made cheaper now?
def cheaper now and the plastic isnt as flexible but then honda will say its better lighter plastic rather than money saving.
What are they like to ride? I still preffer the rr5 to any other shape even the 6 I didn't like as much but tempted to test a newer one to see if the ride will out do the look if you get what I mean
well I was always put off by the nose on the new shape but I thought the hrc colours hid it a bit.its been a while since I had the rr5 and I had an 848 between them so of course the blade feels slower turning but couldnt say what its like against the rr5.I does hold the line better but in standard set up its far too slow in acceleration, a power commander is a must.I fitted one and the power difference is like night and day, still might gear it down for a bit more low down grunt but thats me coming from a twin.
I think I will test one someday just to see. Oh and I ordered my new nose cone through Cox Honda through this forum and they gave me a very good discount if you havent replaced yours yet
yeah I'll drop him a message, would have got it this week only I just got a power commander and two new tyres so her indoors isnt too pleased with me atm lol
Yea I got in a bit of trouble with the misses this week for buying bike stuff oh and for using the last few wet wipes to clean my wheels up, she seems to think the kids are more important than the bike!
lmao she knows I will never part with a bike, made sure she knew before we got married.btw wd40 is great for cleaning wheels.
I normaly just use de greaser that seems to work well but it was only dust from the garage so Huggies did the job nice and quick People seem to use all sorts of weird stuff wd40 furniture polish, someone said about getting them wax sealed is good
I use wd for lots of jobs on the bike especially black textured plastic bits. Havent heard of the wax sealing before, must look it up.
having a little trouble downloading that info for some reason found a section in my haynes manual but it says i have to take side fairings off is that right? my nose cone was shipped today so hopely get it tomorrow
ignore the big error symbol on the download page....top right of the page should be a green download tab.I downloaded it there just to check. you take off the middle fairings (the bits that have the indicators) they have wee hooks the the nose cone clip in with.real easy to remove.
I managed to do it just as your email came through, I just undone the one bolt on the top of that middle fairing and it came off with sides still attached, wether the new one goes back on with the sides attatched we will see
it can be a wee bit fiddly to put on with them in place but it can be done.think I left mine on when I changed the led's in my clocks
