Had a nice ride from East London to West this afternoon... i was riding along as you do, enjoying the ride and the weather , and went past me 6 bikes - real close and fast (a406)- mixture of R1's, Gixr's, and one R6 - making noise, so i thought id tag along.. We stopped at some lights, they all seem so stuck up did not even get a nod or an acknowledgement of my presence ...and after 5 mins of riding along, i thought i better give up with keeping up before somebody gets killed.... I am sure they reached speeds of 130+ on the a406 - weaving in and out of traffic... Now i have never been to a meet or a ride with people i dont know.. but seriously is that how bikers ride when they get together? or would you think that was just a one off?
Normally you'll find one idiot and the rest try to keep up in groups like that. I've only ridden with one bunch like that and didn't grace them with my presence again. Most groups I've ridden with tend to stay below 100mph on motorways/duel carriage ways and just let rip on the B-roads but are 'fairly' responsible.
There's a group of blokes where i live who ask me if id like to go out with them for a run,the answer is always NO !!!!! They are complete nutters,I'm going to either end up dead or banned.I do try and keep it under a 100 mph,not always possible but i do try.
I cant really comment on this as i am guilty of being an idiot sometimes. it all depends on who is setting the pace as im happy to ride at 70 or 170. Just not 50mph
Fair enough...We can all ride like that within means though.. Does that mean R1 & Girx riders are stuck up and in a world of there own?
I think gixxer riders tend to be the nut jobs. i think they have to be though to make up for there crap bike. Apart from the k5-k6 as i quite like them
I hope you haven't been out on your bike today Fez,no one was going any where fast especially up your way.The roads were all heaving, early morning and evening rides for the next few weeks i think...
No i wasnt out on the bike today to many sunday drivers who dont know there cars have mirrors or indicators
You wouldnt like are group... fast fridays.... an evening about 15 plus of us would meet up, leave from the city on a different route each friday night to the coast! Crazy... but all within are limits... we would have us fast guys up front, a middle group and a slow group so pick and choose, would always wait for eachother aswell GUys wheeliein stand ups etc flat out times good thing about big group cars soon move out of the way! some even on the other side move over so can overtake which nice We all knew how each other rode etc.. 3 a brest round a tight hairpin always fun whole point is to attack bends etc... 60mph cruise round corner it no fun. hence why bored of road and get myself a auto range to ram people off the road! Basically the nature was fast as you can go to what you feel like doing, lets just say i know what the clocks of the blade say at max speed one weekend these old guys on rats etc came up to where these roundabouts were (where all bikers praticed getting knee down and wheelies) is quiet ish area, proper stunning, getting off the bike feet sliding on the road... real life proper youtube stuff
followed some sunday riders today... gold wings mainly , they sat in the middle of the road on double white lines so that i couldnt get past them . total twats ,car drivers on 2 wheels . i ride on monkey bikes sometimes ,and can still pass these 40mph warriors..just stay in the bloody car!
Not me im sensible I am.... Even on Sunday's!! But didn't get out this weekend, was my 3 year old nephews birthday, although he is one of the only things that cheers me up when the sun is blazing and I'm not on the bike. That little dude cracks me up!
Had a wife treat on the blade today.Took her with mate and his wife for a ride down to whitstable hernebay canterbury etc.She loved it.Had a few moments with car drivers not doing their lifesavers and nearly wrote us off.Saw Hrc blade in faversham, then a red 2012 blade at challock and a repsol coming thru sittingbourne. As for tearing about I had a play for an hour around medway maidstone and ayelsford.Got the stress out of my system this was around 8.30 this morning.
Erm, yeah. Tend to ride mid-pack and at the pace of the group I'm with, but never beyond my own perceived limits or outside of my level of acceptable foolishness. I get that some would see it as OK, others would see it as being a tw@t. I will have a word with people if I think they're riding like a cock or putting me at risk. Both times I've had to have a word in the last couple of years have only been when out with slower riders. I do ride regularly with a group of Gixers and they're a good bunch of guys...live up to their stereotype, but I'm cool with that. We keep our idiocy to deserted B roads. Used to ride with a different group of Gixer riders, but no longer (stand up wheelies on the A3 whilst waving to Police cars on the other side and wheelieing between cars - allegedly). Not my bag at all & asking to get nick/killed/giving bikers a bad name.
I used to ride with a group of lads that was totally mental used to get home and sit on my sofa and i would be shaking lol and wondered how we made it back, its alot more sensible now with the group i go with we do the odd 3 figures if i am honest its a tad boring at times but i am still alive lol
Just remember anything over 100 mph is normally a ban, around 150 mph can be a prison sentence and just being with a group with one arse hole can result in the whole group being charged with the same offence, oh and radio messages are faster than Fireblades even black ones. Stay safe out there.
Thanks for the heads up..will remember that! Though 100 is really my limit anyhow...with a few very minor exceptions
