Right got hit from behind by a young guy and his shit clio the damage was a broken number plate bracket and the scottoiler which was attached to it.Now his car the bonnet was dented and his rad was pissing out. Ok i thought i would get the insurance company to take it away just in case there was damage to the frame or anything i couldn see. Got a call with them saying it will be repaired but the list of things needs doing was pe-accident a few cracks in fairing and a nick in the seat so i put them right as i just want to be honest and get my bike back ASAP as the things what were damaged i modding anyway. I am i in for a long ride with this? or should i go and bring her home? what would you do??

I would ask for a hire bike to be supplied while it is being repaired get it all sorted, oh and don't forget to mention the pain in your back and neck ;)

It's the way things work these days it's not going to make any difference if he didn't, the driver of the car that hit him is the one making real difference to our premiums

Admire your honesty mate and understand your need (think of the new leathers and replacement helmet and accident damaged gloves etc. etc. yeah I know it's tempting). Be prepared to be pestered by the no win no fee sharks, I still get texts nearly 3 years later and the accident was my fault. Go figure.

If the cilt driver admits full responsibility, obviously his fault but insurance co will try anything, you should get the nod for repairs within a week. Happened to me a few year back, drivers fault, admitted it, witnesses etc but I had to pay £1000 excess and wait nearly a year for my refund.

He did say he would pay for repairs so the company just needs to give me the quote so then it has nothing to do with the insurance companys yeah???????

    Sorry to argue.

It doesn't have to be the way things work these days, only if you contribute to the scam does it continue. The guy that hit him made a mistake we all make mistakes, he had an accident an accident he is insured for lets be thankful he has insurance in the first place. The driver will pay when he has to declare any accidents at renewal time as it is, why add a couple of grand to the bill to be shared between all of us.

The whole thing gets on my tits.

Too right MrB - this country is becoming like America with this "where there's blame there's a claim" bollox and to be honest it gets right on my tits.

I wouldn't get too up your own arses re another bike rider, normally if we get hit we get hurt, deserves all he can get if you ask me, another few miles an hour and that could have been his lot. The real kunz are the shameless inbred scumbags feigning injury in cars, buses, supermarkets, streets etc who are purely in it for fraudelent compo, and forcing underwriters to push fees up everywhere.

^^^ are you suggesting he should claim for injury because he COULD have been hurt?

If so, that's a pretty poor attitude to have, in my opinion anyway.

Maybe, maybe not, that's down to him to decide and live with it. However, you are totally missing the entire point of my post, the look at me 'holier than thou' attitude just gets on my tits, it's 99% contrived by the non participent in most cases based on our actual human personalities anyway.

What I am alluding to is the constant acts of pre-meditated compensation seeking that does the damage, often from the society non-givers in the first place, ..not some geezer who's just had his two wheeled pride and joy smashed and wants a bit of financial justice.

    Fuck sake...

It is true that there are low-lifes (society's non-givers, as you put it) that seem to make a living scamming insurance companies, and thence, all of us innocents.
However, I personally couldn't live with myself if I ended playing a little of their game... and I don't know how any right-minded person could... each to their own though.
