Took my red RR5 to the garage to get the Servo wires connected to the standard exhaust... the garage took 2 hours and could not get the wires connected \ working.. They charged me.. (Charge is £30 per hour) £25 to change a front tyre £30 to put the bottom and mid fairings on (i could have done this in 20mins) £60 for trying to connect the servo wires and telling me the servo is blown (bollocks) What a complete waste of time - i got so fed up i called them and told em to leave the wires disconnected - i will buy a after market back box! its cheaper.. The boss was not in today \ possibly they are just trying it on.. These guys work on bikes day in and day out - have 5 shops and they could not fix my blade.. Aaaahhh im pissed! Going tommrow to speak to the guy who owns the place as i am not happy to pay for work they were unable to complete!
That. I am afraid is the way of the world nowadays Sam. They have hours to sell and sell them they will. We all know they charge standard times but do the job much quicker which is way most workshops have labour targets and have to report and explain any “lost hours”. It make no difference if they didn’t fix the job, the time is chargeable. If as you say they couldn’t get it working because the servo is blown I can’t understand why they didn’t phone you to say so and give you the choice for them to fix/replace the servo. Either way you are going to get charged mate. If you have a good relationship with the dealer you might be able to discuss/negotiate the final amount. Give it a go, nothing to lose.
I will always look at reducing the bill if the problem hasn't been fixed. A guy came in the other day to have a £14 quid gear indicator fitted to a 955. The tech spent an hour and couldn't get it to work, I didn't charge the customer but did sell him a gear indicator with fitting that will work.
I couldn't get the cables connected - it was odd the servo would not turn when engine was reved... thoguth maybe a bike garage will know how to sort this out quickly - as they work on bikes day in and day out! including blades and gixrs! Anyway...i had this thought and had i had it last week i could have saved my self the hassle of riding the bike to the garage to get the cables sorted! putting the panels on i thought they would charge me like £15 as it was no BIG job! i just bought a Remus end can for £87! hey no longer require the cables...bargin price i think and it will also help in the sale of the bike..
By a servo eliminator and forget about it ! Or just leave it disconnect and but yourself a Gucci aftermarket can!
Yep its a tricky one i had the FI light come on and off then the fuel pump wouldn ingage became a none starter so took it to a garage (no names) spent ages on it couldn find the fault still got charged by the hour was not happy, in the end i took it further a field a Honda garage and it was a corroded wire £250 FOR MY TROUBLES!
I never charge for work that's not compleated, how can you? What gets me is these kind of jobs are simple mechanics it does not matter what kind of bike, scooter or superbike the fundamentals are the same... I work on all kinds of engines from bikes to diggers, the combustion engine has changed little over the years and the fundamentals are the same from one to another.... If you can't fix a Suffolk punch lawn mower you waste your time trying to fix anything else....lol
i had been trying to fix this for 2 weeks now..though only if you had said this then.. as my thought process was little slow! bought a remus can yesterday for £87 with a link pipe - my oil light has apparently come on..thought there is oil in the bike.. odd! not sure if i will be able to collect the bike today – as there is sooo much bloody traffic out there!
Ah samuk you out bid me!!!!!!! lol let us know how it sounds good price i half heartly bib on it as i want the yoshi
Opps sorry mate.. it wont compare against a Yoshi - Yoshi's are great..If i didnt have a full Akra on my repsol the Yoshi would have been my choice! Remus has a good name, unsure how good it will sound.. i just needed something cheap to pop on my bike to remove the cables and to sell it..
right, got my bike back! Oil light is on...any one here got any idea's? it is flashing 3 times fast, and 4 times slow.i can also see a flashing F on the clocks.. so some kind of a fault code.
Pretty sure code 34 means missing or disconnected exhaust servo. Don't have the trusty Haynes with me, but I think they have all the codes in the book.
Yep it's the disconnected servo. Had that on mine You need to set it to its start position and that will clear the light
