Aircon and comfort is the clincher for me...bearing in mind I live in a very rural area so zero traffic on my commute.

I do use the bike on the odd nice day, but mainly easier to use the car for work.

living in a dream world mate - ave salaries are over 22% higher in london - and of the amount of people who earn more than 100k i would guess the majority work in london...

look at statistics such as this UK Budget 2012: Top 1% of earners contribute almost a third of all the income tax | This is Money and im sure you could quite rightly assume that people in the south east put alot more money into the system (which im sure gets sent all round the country) for everyone...

i dont earn 100k, and im not saying tax shouldnt be what it is, but looks straight forward to me.

Those stats are based on the assumption that the top 1% actually PAY their taxes :D

don't forget the West/East Debate. I not fussed about the Olympics, and less fussed about going inside of the M25

getting sick and tired of all the London this London that on the TV, papers etc....and to make it worst it always seems to be 2-4 degrees hotter in London than any other place

I have to agree. I think you're either a London type of person or not. I've honestly tried to like the place. Like seriously each time I approach it I think that THIS will be the time that I fall in love with it but nope. I always can't wait to get away. I know that there's lots to do and see but I guess I'm just not wired right for it. I like wide open spaces and big horizons.

In fact I'll tell you a story that I think sums it up. A few years ago I was seeing a lass who lived in West London, about 200 metres to the North of the Heathrow glide path. As you can imagine it was ridiculously noisy. By the time the planes reached the air over her flat they were probably at 300ft altitude with the gear down. I'm sure you can imagine what that sounds like every 90 seconds or so :D

Especially in the warmer months when all the windows were open. On more than one occasion we were enjoying a bit of afternoon delight and I couldn't help but think that it rather spoiled the mood when you have to shout your dirty talk to be heard over the sound of a pair of Pratt and Whitneys :D

Personally I'm sick of bloody Kenton.

It's Kenton this and Kenton that. The busses go through there more frequently than Exminster, they've got their own speed camera and a Belisha beacon. We're lucky to get some double yellows outside tescos. Now they've even got their own vineyard. It makes me sick. Just cos the earl of bloody Devon lives there. And they've got a bloody farm shop outside his castle. What have we got? Two bloody estate agents and a hair dressers.

I fully expect Kenton to get their own bloody Olympics and another cycle path any day now.

    What?

Thanks fella's I am loving this rant, L is looking at me rolling eyes because I am laughing so much. So here is our two pence worth:

L works in central London Monday to Friday, this means we are getting up no later then 5 am, and quite often before then, to drive 20 miles each way to the station, get the rattler that is dirty, often late and always over crowded and for the privilege has to pay £4'488 plus car parking at another £1'040. Then get the tube at another £920 per year. Add Fuel to get to the station costing between £900/£1000. So that’s a good seven and a half grand just for her to get to work that is not tax deductable.

I have an office in London and the Midlands plus work in Europe. Ok my costs are paid for so happy days on that score.
Then consider that most weeks I work at least 50 to 65 hours, often more if you take travelling time into consideration.
Then bear in mind that we then both pay 40% PYAE in tax on everything we earn. That’s a lot of money going to feed the needy spongers that the tax dodgers are avoiding.
If you want to look at this from a slightly different angle. L's boss the CEO pays more tax then I earn on my basic pre bonus salary. That’s a shit load of money going into the UK coffers.

So stop moaning the lot of you. The so called soft southerners are propping up the economy.

That’s me done. Our closing Olympics ceremony tickets have arrived and the Olympics football is on the telly and I am off to the wine o'clock thread as L has just opened a bottle of red.

All said lighting touch paper and standing well back.
