Giving blood tonight.....Do you? Cos you should! Also I subscribe to the North West Air Ambulance, riding a bike you never know when you might need them or you could just be helping a fellow biker!
I would love to replace the blood i received after giving birth to my second daughter, but unfortunately i'm not allowed to.However both my are girls blood donors,if i didn't get the life saving red stuff when i needed it i certainly wouldn't be here today. To all the blood donors out there,"Thank you"you saved my life..
I looked into this, I've got to wait a while longer, because of a tattoo I had, the air ambulance always gets any donations I can make, wether it is money in the box at a cafe, or the textile collection point at Tesco's, I'm in awe of these guys, I was out with a group a few years ago and they had to be called in. Amazing service, worthy of everything they get IMO.
I used to, from the age of 18. Then last year I gave blood a few days before a pedal bike ride of about 60-70 miles, I felt ill like i was going to collapse feeling sick and no strength in my legs, I made it but was not pleasant, giving blood is all I can put it down to
Noticed they must be getting short, as they've relaxed the blackout period after being tattooed from 6 to 3 months...
I would like too but I'm unsure if I can because of medical implants does anyone know if that's correct? No I haven't had my man boobs enlarged before anyone asks just metal and plastic implants
Gave blood regularly, past the silver award got to the mark for the gold and they messed about with the system so you made appointments to donate instead of just turning up so don't bother any more. Give direct from salary to Kent Air Ambulance, have done so for years. Also do the occasional charity cycle for them, Like the lifeboats they need all the help they can get.
Been donating since I was 18, and am on their bone marrow donor list too, gave my 51st armful the week before last.
I will support the Air Ambulance for sure, but the Lifeboats are just shameful. I deal with them quite a lot through work and the money they waste away is obscene. They have lost sight of what it is that they do and stand for. Why does each crew member need a jacket worth about £120 to wear when they are not on the boat? that is just the tip of the iceberg (no pun intended).
My dad works for the RLNI for nothing as a volunteer every weekend along with working a min 50hr week mon to fri to be honest I think he deserves his £120 jacket if it really cost that much for the amount of work he puts into saving lives for free! Air ambulance have expensive gear and get paid a massive wage along with it! I'm not looking for an argument just trying to get a valid point across that people obviously don't realise these guys do for nothing (or for a £120 jacket) lol
