Well wifey has given green light for bike change Do I upgrade blade from RR7 or quite fancy a big naked ' speed triple / cb1000r I'm not a fast rider and just cruise around at steady speed Figure a naked would be more suited and comfortable What'd reckon ?
Mate of mine is into his naked bikes. He's just changed from a cb1000r to the new Z1000. I've ridden both. Have to say the Z is a much nicer bike. Then new speed triple is a bit ugly for me! Give the Z a test ride!
Ditto the Z.... Also consider the Kwak SX-1000, Like the ZX-10 but with a more comfy seating and riding position.
if i could afford it i,d have a cb1000r alongside the blade but too much money tied up. had a z1000 few years ago but you had to work it to get going. worth trying a few as mentioned.
I've ridden the triumph, it's epic! And I'd have one tomorrow... But haven't tries the z or cb. My only concern would be the type of riding you do, as at high speeds (you said that's not a biggie) or on big miles ie touring, they can be hard work. Having said that, i honestly think they are amazing bikes and not that far off sportsbikes in terms of performance.
Basic sag and some tweaks mate, they are ....how do I say... Fun to ride, defo the suss is built to a budget but it's proven quick and the motor sings money would be well spent on maxton internals and shock... Give you an idea mine pulls 160mph no problem at 125bhp.. no way as easy to ride as a 1050 but good laugh... OP should defo test ride a few and do go and have a blast on a 1200 multi they are a laugh...! I do love sit up bikes prob more so than a superbike for general ease of use etc.
I am with Jimbo here, Speed Triple. Sounds superb, handles well and the engine is just so smooth and useable. I haven't tried any others, with the exception of a KTM Superduke which I had for a while and loved. Truly bonkers bike.
I want to get a KTM 604 / 640 LC for about £2,000 - £2,500 to try one and be an alternative, but also told to try a 950SM as the 640 would feel too slow after the blade but they are loads more
I always fancied a speed triple until i sat on one, for me the pegs are too far back throwing weight onto your wrists even with standard bars. The best one ive ridden was my streetfightered '98 Blade, you could get on it blindfolded and find the renthall bars first time the position was so natural, it had a Peugeot Speedfight II faring on it and looked bloody awful, but everyone who rode it said how nice it was from behind the faring (I.E. so you didnt have to look at it). The only reason i put it back to standard was the handling properties above 120mph round bends, but if you are not bothered about chasing new sportsbikes at those speeds (but its still possible) i'd go for it. They are cheap, have quality suspension compared to some naked bikes, light weight, cheap, reliable, er, cheap, good for touring, good for scratching and cheap of course. You just have to prefer function over form.
I like both of these colours for the CB1000RR; I even like Repsol one, even if it is slower then the HRC one
Just traded my 2011 blade in for a new speed triple i have had 2 other triumphs in the past triumph street triple R mega fun but a bit small for me and you had to work the gear box, triumph speed triple old shape 2010 mega should never of sold it, tried the new shape triple and just had to have it handles better than the 2010 more like the street triple so much torque aswell and the sound from the triple is awesome.
quote from arthur! I do love sit up bikes prob more so than a superbike for general ease of use etc. went out on both the blade and the tuono yesterday and enjoyed the tuono more. just something about it that makes you grin like a cat.
