I put a BOS 1 on last year, you need to strip everything off, I even had to take the foot rests and heat shields to take clamp off, be careful with these clamps mine had the screw locked in it, snapped the head off, Honda wanted 64 quid for a new 1. Luckily found 1 on eBay

I have the same exhaust on mine, use the sticky heat shied as it wont fit with the standard shield and will get too hot without it. Have a quick look in the Haynes manual before taking the rear cowl off as gives you hints of technique to take off easier.
I had trouble with the standard can because of the servo wires 1- because I really know what they were then 2- my hands were too big to disconnect them so I called someone round to finish the job.
I think I ended up having to take the belly fairing off too.

I took the standard exhaust exhaust off one of my RR5's last night!

the rear cowl is easy to take off, once you remove the 4 screws (and yes you have to remove it)....from one side you have to pull it out and up...it may feel like its about to break but it wont..if your unsure i can get a pic up to show you later..

I have removed my cables and no fault code...

I never had a light come on
I'm not 100% sure what it is, I have always thought it opened the valve inside the exhaust on full trottle but I could be wrong and making myself look really silly :)
Im pretty sure that's what it is, by instaling the slip on you are basically opening that valve all the time (valve is inside stock pipe)

the light will come on if you remove the servo plug - the garage did this..and could not figure out what was wrong!

last night i noticed as i was taking the standard exhaust off, the wires were connected to the exhaust end and were no on correctly...upon removing these the light went away.. odd..

Sounds okay, but i was unable to secure it as it seems i have the incorrect bracket!

This is what i got with mine..seems similar to your bracket.. but i have the bit that bends and bolts onto the bike missing..

    What Sam said.

As long as you leave the electrical connector plugged in, it shouldn't throw up an FI fault.
You can then happily remove the cables along with the servo on the end can.

I didn't use the sticky heat pad - don't have it on my Repsol or the red blade..or my last blade...

I didn't see any heating issues..
