From experience of using other peoples you seem to get what you pay for with range and how clear they are, I find most of them a little uncomfortable but you get used to it after a while. Some cheaper ones seem to constantly buzz which is annoying, and they are quite hard to hear if you have aftermarket exhausts again the more you spend the better that seems to get but I haven't found one that I really rate that high yet.
Hope all that ramble helps :)
Oh and every one I know that hast them used them constantly for about a week and then I don't remember seeing them since.
Anyway nothing beats riding side by side with your visors up swaying towards each other shouting and a not actually understanding what anyone said

I've just bought a set of autocoms from holland. Normally they cost around the £300-£370 mark here. £120 delivered brand new and they are as good as the reviews mate. I'll find a link for you. :)

You will need a set of radio's and another lead to go with it. But they can be picked up cheap enough.

Yup. But all you need is a set of radio's from say maplins and a wire from autocom to get it to work bike to bike.
My mate bought the radios and the leads. I'll get him to post up a link where he got the leads from and how the wiring works as he did that part. The leads are only a couple of quid and u can easily get a set of radios for £45.

I use the Cardo Scala Rider G4 headsets - top quality and work really well. the claimed distance for Bike-to-Bike being up to 1 mile is a tad optimistic though. Anything bluetooth links to them. I link my mobile to mine and play music via bluetooth and take the odd call if safe to do so. Can't fault them. bike-to-bike is good as it's in full duplex, i.e. you can talk as if you're sat next to the person, unlike a radio where it's one person at a time speaking. Great for pillion use too.

I've got the Interphone set, which is very similar to the Scala I believe. They've just brought out the F5 series, which has a bike-bike range of 0.9 miles (between 2 bikes) up to 1.6 miles (with 6 bikes, conferenced).

It also does phone, FM radio, MP3, GPS and has great noise cancellation to the point where you can have a phone conversation with someone up to 80mph and them not know you're on the bike!

(but you'd need to shop around to get the best price)

    Hey,

Thanks for opening a nice can of worms!
You have slightly under quoted a little on the prices Colin :D

What do u actually want the system to do?
    Only bike to bike?
    Rider to pillion?
    GPS, Music?

The Autocom units are very good systems once setup, they are used a lot by professionals including race teams and the AA, Autocom have been around since 1989 and have won loads of awards (tested to 180mph on a bike and still clear communication) and a lot of motorcycle training test centres use them to instruct trainees where to go (remember that malarkey.) So they must be doing something right.

Anyway both me and Colin got a set of wireless link systems each (link he posted above) The system comes with everything to speak between rider and pillion.

In order to get the actual bike to bike bit working I already had bought a set of midland G7 radios from Maplins I got them on special for £80 with 2 bike headsets good system but anything above 30mph n wind noise became a problem transmitting only wind noise instead of the voices. So all I required was the correct connection cables which were £10 each n £1.49 Del.
Radio Link Midland G7 XT PMR446 Twin Pack : PMR 446 Two Way Radios : Maplin Electronics
Purchased cables from Smart Riders Motorcycle Clothing & Accessories, Helmets, Jackets & Trousers, Boots, Gloves, Heated, Leather & Textile. Christchurch, Bournemouth, Dorset, UK

Beware most cheap radios are not compatible with the system as they don’t allow for external PTT (push to talk) which the system uses via the connection cable.
The cheaper radios need someone to press the button on the side in order to transmit!

Please check there is a cable avail for the radios you are purchasing/already have.
    Notable brands are:-
    Midland
    Motorola
    Kenwood
    Icom

Here is a link to autocom's brochure showing all systems and accessories.

Hope this info helps somewhat in allowing you to weigh the options that are available out there. :)

Me also but that tends to be more to communicate with car drivers than bikes
