So Apparently it can be done!with changing the buld holder and running a wire from the dipped light side! Q) has anyone done this mod and what is involved?
Electrically it can be done yes, now heres the but? is it not a different lense/magnification on the headlight for main beam? this said it would be easy enough to sort for such times as MOT. guess thats a start?
The reflector is different, yes it's possible to change the bulb holder and fit a H7 bulb instead of the H4,change the wiring etc................but what happens @ MOT?
If using the same reflector will it not throw it too high? or will the lower lux bulb compensate this, Re the MOT lights out of alinement are a fail are they not?
There was a unit in the US that holds the Hi beam at one quarter lumens when on dip beam then runs it full power on hi, don't know where you get them but anyone half good with transistors etc should be able to make one up...
I can't believe there's not a kit out for doing this. I have looked into it a few times and had no easy solution. The question is, what made them think it was a good idea to have one on? Every time I go out I get "do you know you have a light out?" to which I now reply "JUST F#!K OFF!" It drives me mad!!!!
Good plan, for those running HID low beam you could add a LED H7 on the Hi beam side (however you would have a useless Hi beam) they look the same (5-7K)when left on Hi beam but the LED's are not bright enough to dazzle other road users..
I ride on high beam all the time and I have never had anyone complain that the high beam was dazzling them. But having said that I only ride during the day.
it takes about five minutes to install, and does work pretty well. If I remember right we done a group buy on this.
