And I'm debating weather this might be a good idea... And I'm hoping it doesnt turn into a slagging match...

I'm not anti police in any stretch of the imagination, I ride with coppers, two of my cousins are in the force and generally I think they do an amazing job given the constraints they have to work with and the scum of society they are trying to police to ensure our everyday existence is safe and peaceful.

    BUT...

I do find this frustrating, 6 coppers hiding (people say they don't but they do) hiding behind some palisade fencing with a speed gun.

Typical place to do it, stretch of road 30 out of a 40 where you come out the trees and they clock ya before you adjust to where it should be a 30 zone..

    Actually a 30mph limit

    Can't see no speed trap?

Yep there they are - all six of them on double time on a Sunday hiding in the alcove of the fence

I 've been caught out in a similar situation to this a few years back, there must have been getting on for 18 of them doing oposite directions with a car and a pair of bikes for those who didn't stop I guess!

The idea of speed cameras being located in areas we least expect them is to me the same as if we were being short changed in the shop. Yes it grips our shit, but I guess We should have paid more attention. if you get spanked in a 30-40-50 your mind was certainly not on the job.
Get spanked on a rural road oh well there you go, take your medicine.
As like the pic i took off another web site Always expect the unexpected, but that is sheer bloody get you at all costs!
no amount of sugar would make that medicine taste any better.

Jimbo with so much friends and family connected to the force you should know that they don't earn double time anymore

Yes they (generally speaking) do a.very tough job very well indeed. The speed trap / entrapment methods employed are the highly contrasting flip side of the coin. If they were trying to 'educate' us to the 'dangers' of speeding they would be more thought of if they employed the hi visibility techniques, ie. Lots of signage to warn of cameras, hi viz vests worn while standing in prominent areas etc Otherwise it is, as a cynic myself, just another excuse to generate more revenue.

Only if it is signed to warn of cameras. Also, when plod is stood about with his hairdryer he has to be prominently visible, otherwise it is entrapment.

I thought he had to be visible got caught by a sneaky Copper hiding behind a bush and sign no hi viz, went to court with a bunch of info from the net thinking I was smart!
Turned out all net info is bollox, they can do/ware what they want where they want providing there is a camera sign along that road somewhere.
    My 3pts £60 fine quickly turned into 4pts and a £450 fine!
And they quite rightly said (hate to admit that bit) that no matter what the copper was waring or where he was hiding I shouldnt of been going over the speed suggested for that road.
Lesson learnt! ( get Velcro on number plate chuck in a bush and don't stop) lol

    My thoughts

people don't want fix cameras. i don't BUT as they reduce these then more speed traps will arise.

I for one would be pissed being caught for 34 when it is just going into a 40. But glad they are not out on that Fun roads.

love or hate them, your not going to stop having them around. Best tip, get out very early in the AM with less traffic and the BIB still in bed.

If you see one of these traps and you really want to piss them off then go past slowly turn around and park up on the other side of the road and take some pictures of them, they hate it but can't stop you if your on a public footpath as your allowed to take photo's anywhere you like except some ares in London. They get even more anoyed if you keep taking pictures of them when they ask you to stop!!!! If you ask them if your obliged to stop they have to say no, thats the law!

Ha ha I know, took it on Sunday mate - one of the reasons I called to warn ya as you'd be a certain ticket if passing as I knew you were out in the Z! Lol

Remember when we road past I was pointing at the spot, they are often there late at night or weekends - never seem them during school hours which is strange as there are two schools half a mile down the road???
