Hate to say it but even my HTC Sensation whoops iPhones, the retina display is not new it's just Apples way of renaming super amoled displays, the samsung is a REAL new tech with there Awsome new LED panel soon to be seen in new tvs that are only 2-5mm thick and have true black! Shocking tech that's proper groundbreaking Apple just steal or buy good tech and then stop anyone else from using it! They rip off the main market and tie it to them selfs, there software and hardware is not bug free, you just can't see when apps restart, well you can but if you bling you will miss the restarts! They are far from perfect and tbh are falling behind the times sale are pushed by pointless gimmicks like rubbish voice recognition and adverts that are so cut its untrue.... as you can see I'm a big fan of Steve Jobs and his empire that squashed the small guy.....lol Posted on my iPad3.....lol
iPhone, no question. Easy to use and all the rest of it. lovely bit of kit. wouldn't have anything but now.
Just to fan the flames: iPhone versus Android: Obsolescence, choices, or support? | MacStartup Old article but still relevant, afaik
Good call, if my CCTV app had sound and other features that are supported on Android I'd prob consider one, but it don't so I'm out......lol. As said there is a big devide when it comes to phones... I did put an iPhone in the clay trap once but missed...lol
This^^^^^^ Honestly Matt, I wanted to hate the iPhone until I tried one (always called my friends "iPhone wankers" or "Fashionable twats").........I was given a 3GS to try for a few weeks before my contract s due......liked it a lot and went for the 4 when my renewal date came along, I absolutely love mine, it makes ALL other phones feel like cheap plastic shit. Get a decent case for it though. I keep mine in a Griffin Survivor. Like the iPhone so much I bought an iPad2. That says a lot, coming from me with my Scottish roots
I was told the reason a fifty pence has sides is to get a spanner on it to remove it from a Scott's mans hand...
Some more interesting views . I found it a laugh when looking at price plans, HTC one x and SG3 are like £10 cheaper a month for what i want than a iphone 4s?? price fixing hell yea
That's another factor to consider - contract vs buying outright. Usually there's not a lot in it when comparing TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) but obviously buying outright requires a large outlay up front. However, buying outright does mean your phone will be unlocked (if purchased from Crapple) and you can stick 2 fingers up to O2 and their capped data plans by joining GiffGaff which uses the O2 network but gives you 250 mins and unlimited text and data (with no FUP either) for only £10 a month. They do larger plans if you want more minutes too. (ETA: you don't need to be unlocked to join giffgaff if you have an O2 phone)
I'll hold my hands up... I know sweet FA about Apple products (hardware, that is)..... but to me, having to "jailbreak" (i.e. hack) a device in order to properly use it, defeats the point. Also, am I right in saying that once "broken", you cannot get O/S upgrades, or Apple support? Better declare my vested interest here... I am a Software Developer, so have to detest Apple because they make it hard (or impossible) for innovative software developers to make money...... if it conflicts with their "core values", or risks impinging a revenue stream, they refuse to approve it (or at least, unfairly drag their heals on the approval process). It has always worried me that, if I wrote software for Apple devices, had a true eureka moment, an idea that would revolutionise mobile device usage, spent £s and time developing it, only for Apple to say "nah, that might cut the money we make from iGiblets"... I see that as grossly unfair, and think people should realise that Apple sometimes behave in that manner.
I'm with Vodafone at the mo and have been happy with them but looking for now at a 4S 32gig is £599 but unable to find yer the S3 to just buy the phone but bet it's cheaper
Ditto, and agree wholeheartedly. I hate Apple and what they stand for, i.e proprietary standards, market monopolisation and treating users like idiots. They also can't write software for s**t! However, they have done some key things right with iOS devices - create an ecosystem that has longevity, conformity and stability, and used excellent design principles and some alternative thinking to make devices that ANYONE can pick up and use quickly and easily. They were first to market with mass-produced, standardised smartphones and all other players are still playing catch-up. Samsung don't help matters by going into business with Apple when they lock down the component manufacturers to lengthy tie-ins to gain and keep the market share! If Samsung were really bothered about making in-roads into Apple's market share, they would try to innovate themselves and not produce for Apple. Technically yes, but you can return to stock any time you need to. The only pain is when they release a new iOS version and the JB devs take a while to find an exploit. Thankfully that's only happened once to date, and most new devices/iOSes have been broken within days/weeks. If you already have a JBed Apple device then you can hold off upgrading for a while but the kicker is if you get a new device such as when the iPhone 5 is released.
I'm with Vodafone on mine...ring them they will do you a good deal over the phone. I got mine for £99 handset (£26 per month contract..500mins 200 text, unlimited internet)
i'm paying at the mo £33 for 500 mins, unlimited texts and 1 gig of data. i want to change that to 100 mins, unlimited text and 500meg of data. Will give them a bell and see what they can do. looking at the suspected release date of the Iphone 5 and may be Sept but also poss Oct. Can't wait till then. So the S3 is looking like one I may go for. But the Iphone is not out of the question either
I stay clear of I-phones as my friend has cracked three screens on his, once from falling off the table in the bar.too fragile for my liking,my htc desire contract is up in a week so I think the S3 will be my next port of call.plus I like the android setup for app's and that...dont what to pay for things you get free on android and google lol
The screens breaking is hardly unheard of is it!!! hence I put mine in a Griffin Survivor on day one....due the the case being very tactile you are less likely to drop it anyway.
yeah my mate now has a Griffin Survivor, I rip him saying a nokia 3210 brick is now smaller then his phone lol
Vodafone are renewing my contract, iphone 4S is free, unlimited texts, 1gig data and 600 minutes for £35 pm. I don't know wether to wait for the 5 though.
