yeah but the secret is they have the bars, seat and footrest's in such a natural position so even with it looking small it isnt cramped to sit on.you also are not perched on top of the thing like a lot of modern bikes are now.
Ah now I see what you mean. Yup totally agree with you about the riding position being good on the bike, but being 16 stone and top heavy I don't think it would be a great look for me on such a small 'looking bike' if you know what I mean. The KTM atleast looks like a bigger bike, and would probably more suit my physique.
saying that I seen a fella today an he would have been not far of 18 stone on a new repsol blade and he made it look tiny lol
I can't speak for the newer ones but the foot peg position on mine used to cut off the circulation below my knees after about an hour. I'm sure the designers of the original concept didn't want considerations like controls spoiling the 'look' of the thing. They just begrudgingly stuck them on anywhere there was free space afterwards. I'm amazed they were symmetrical.
friend of mine won that series (dave wood) he got a brand new one for winning the series which is for sale at the moment
i not long got my old rsv tuono back which is my second bike and now i,m used to it again its a hoot. just got to make sure your in the right rev range to fire out of corners and get used to the extra engine braking. the blade still far superior but you got to work the twin harder which seems to make for a better more involved ride. rc8,s look nice but don,t know anyone who,s had 1 so can,t really add on them.
its dave wood racing (dwr) he's based in aylesburry bucks, sorry i cant put a link as im crap with computers and not sure how, he sold it to a bloke he knows who spent about 6-7 grand on it then only used it as a toy when the sun was out the bloke needed the money tied up in the bike so woody bought it back and up for sale again, that was a week ago so might be worth a call
Hi Colin. I have had 4 V twins and love them. It is a totally different riding style to the IL4 and takes a bit of getting used to, but it's great. I am either going to have an RC8 or a speed triple next (not a twin I know )
The reason i ask is because i thought it was our Super Duke. The bike we own won the sound of thunder cup in 2007 a guy called John Barnett won on it.Our Super duke has a very good pedigree.
I've ridden a V-Twin before just not a big 1. I just don't know wiether I'd prefer to have the SP1/2 and the blade, or to have just the KTM. They are 2 totally different animals and both I'd love to have in the garage.
[/IMG] This was my second bike after passing my test .It sounded great and perhaps what a true bike should feel like ,I was perhaps to green to get the best out of it but it was fast i chopped it for a new 02 GSXR1000 and then it was a different game. I dont suppose there are many dudes on here whos ears dont pop out like radar when there is a big twin knocking around .My mate has the new 848 and it goes like stink .
Big V twin you say. I have just bought this bit of retro cool. Its the slowest bike I have ever had; but I love it.
I have got a friend who had an RC8 and he was very generous with it and let me do about 1000 miles on it over the space of the 6 months he had it. I loved the engine on it, but the suspension was defintiely track biased and needed setting up for the road. Performance Bikes magazine did a feature on the RC8 as a used buy maybe 12 months ago and I read it with interest as I would consider an RC8 as a next bike. They loved the bike, but things like the clutch needing inspection at about 8k miles and then some issues with oil weeps on the cylinder head lines made me discount it. I spoil my Blade rotten and touch wood it has been the height of reliability, but for a bike with the price tag of the RC8 to have silly issues like that, just puts me off. Great shame as it is SO comfy to ride, looks immense, sounds superb and handles brilliantly.
I had the KTM RC8R awesome bike lots of fun to ride great track bikes as long as you dont have huge long straights there is a nice Spec KTM here for sail he wants to trade it in on a blade rc8 for sale.
