Anyone been? After taking the GF to alton towers for her birthday in april, and stoping at a posh barn conversion bnb, she's hankering after somewhere bigger and better. So I thought thorpe park. Will probably travel down friday, stop somewhere friday night and have a full saturday at the park, another night then travel home sunday. Is one day long enough to do at least 2 goes on the decent rides, or should we have 2 days? Might even be possible we go mid week and hopefully the queues will be smaller.
Not been to thorpe park but i have been to a few others and i find that 1 day is enough if you are going when its very quiet but if you are waiting in queues then you do need 2 days feel like you got the best out of it
Not been to Alton towers in years so couldnt compare, but Thorpe park isn't far from us and it has had loads of decent rides installed in recent years, a day is enough though if you get the fast track tickets, but personally I'd go mid week as I hate ques!! Speak with vino, it's on his doorstep so sure he must go quite often, plus he might be able to recommend somewhere nice to stay.
Thorpe park is good but best going on a week day when kids are back at school, you don't que for anything, the rides are longer and you can just stay on and go again!
Dont think Thorpe park is bigger...... some great rides though, Alton Towers is spread over a much larger park...... Fast track is the way to go but can cost a bit, look out for 2 for 1 vouchers in tesco s it can save £46 + per adult.....
Powerful bikes ....Girlfiend....Funfair .. and now called Steve .I can see a mid life crisis unfolding here!!
Thorpe Park is pretty decent but as said you really need fast track unless you find queuing for 2 hours for a ride acceptable
Thore park is just down the road from me my Daughter used to go quite alot , She said its pretty good but the ques are very long !
Cheers guys, I know its piss poor timing cos the kids are off, but we want to grab some fun in the sun and it dont look like its gonna stick around much longer. I'll weigh up the fast track vs 2 day pass. Neither of us would mind going round twice.......both big kids at heart.
Lol, but you need to consider I only busted about 27 bones. ShaneS has done something like 40 odd. Oh, and died. Although i'm probably not done yet.......
I was at thorpe park last month, you need fast track for: Saw Nemesis Inferno Stealth The swarm (has the longest que as its the newest Ride The rest are 40-50 min ques. We had 2 days at thorpe park and both days were needed. (only £6 each re entry for a 2nd day) Buy the sun news paper. They are doing vouchers for 2 free tickets for 1 days entry. We stayed in a hotel in staines. Mercure thames lodge hotel. Its actually really nice although very limited parking and its only 1.5 miles away from the park. It says its 3* but i recon it should be 4* Im going to Alton Towers with the girlfriend B/H weekend (her idea) wish us luck lol
We enjoyed Alton towers, though there are only 6 or so decent rides. Piss it in a day. There is one called 'Rita' I think, its the one that accelerates you slightly quicker than a HRC blade, but slower than a Repsol one....anyway, just behind it is a little roller coaster thing that looks like its for kids, seems to disappear behind a mound of dirt. Go on it, you will be pleasantly surprised.
Blaggs, I live 5 mins from Thorpe Park. After Alton Towers, it'll be a big of a let down....and it's staffed by pubescent chavs from Staines. It's OK, don't get me wrong, but about 1/4 of the size. If you fancy a trip down my way, I'd go to Chessington World of Adventures instead - although still won't touch Alton. You could scoot down, do Thorpe Park 1 day, stay over & do Chessington the next?
