Today im doing the dreaded passenger peg removal and replacing them with brackets from a chap on cbr.net (same as satos really) Ive taken the front seat off, obviously passenger seat, and removed all 4 bolts as per this thread third post down - Street Hooks Install FYI : Honda CBR 1000RR Motorcycle Forums: 1000RR.net now im stood at the back of the bike and trying to slide/pull it towards me and its kinda moves a bit but when it gets to the circular key surround part it gets a little tight, cant seem to just pull it up and am concerned i need to give it too much force to just pull it further back. WTF Honda? why oh why is there a technique?
no problem do what your doing and pull it back about 20mm look inside the seat unit and you will see 2 tabs either side. these lock into grooves on the under tray if the tabs are now unlocked (by sliding the seat unit to the rear of the bike) you are ready to open the plastic and pop it over the subframe i do it one side at a time and eventually it pops off. you have to be quite brutal with it and trust it won't snap (and it won't. these things are really flexible)
Sorted! Now just had to drill bloody holes to drop the underside off Looks like I'll need the mrs to hold some bits while i loosen the frame...... This has tits up written all over it
Dont worry, its all sorted....kinda Got some spacers with them and cant figure out whether there intended for the actual brackets OR for later when you install the pegs, they fit fine without the spacers using the original bolts so thats what ive done. Look pretty good, although thats the point, your not meant to really notice and i reckon they do a good job. looks miles better now i have the seat cowl on and no rear pegs.
