Recently bought one from Vic_ster (cheers mate) and as you can see they are for 08 model onwards. Mines 2010 Fairing Bracket Honda CBR1000RR 08 Pics from site well i fitted mine the other day and a couple of things i noticed that seemed a little weird, hoping someone on here may have seen one or fitted one to theirs : clock mounts - the lugs on the clock are longer then the bracket mounts so when you do the screws up this is obviously loose, simple answer would be to cut down but im concerned about losing the thread inside the lug? horizontal bars - as you can see there are two horizontal bars which sit between the forks. these touch the forks way before the steering lock lugs do which obviously reduces the steering? is this normal or can the bars be "trimmed" to suit the bigger steering lock. Doesn’t seem much - 10mm on guess but seriously hampers manoeuvring the bike? And I’m worried it’ll catch me out at slow speed etc. thanks in advance chaps!
Jimbo can you not fit a couple of rubber washers/spacers over the lugs so it brings the clocks away from the fairing stay thus enabling it to be secured tightly?
Simple!!yep that'll work and looking at the pic i think thats what they have done! now - the steering?? lol
I did try and gleen some info on the steering but other than cutting away some of the bracket I didn't find a definitive answer.
The lugs that restrict the steering are "lock stops" that help in the case of a tank slapper. The thinking is that you don't need as much slow speed steering on a race bike. I have that bracket on my track bike and its never caused me any issues.
Thanks mate - was my school of thought, but was a bit un-nerving the amount of steering it does reduce! i can rest at ease now cheers..
clock should mount up fine... mine did... maybe the rubbers arent seated correct or right way round Yeah i did think that about the steering aswell
the holes are in the right place just the lugs are too long so the clocks rattle around! the rubber washer / spacers will sort no problem. but maybe you get some buying new? did you find the clocks are slightly lower than OE? not that its an issue, just a small observation...
I've got the same bracket fitted to mine, which I bought second but the right side lock stop when sat on bike had been cut to increase steering lock to help when transporting bike etc. only trouble was left clip on was too close to fairing and trapping my fingers... SES must have a lot of people cut them too short as they sell longer end plugs, fitted one in the cut down side and problem solved! Turning circle of a football pitch now but better than trapped fingers!
Yeh the clocks are lower with the SES bracket, the only reason I can think of is cause when your leaning right over the tank the clocks are then in your eyeline. A more compromised angle / position from honda.
