Having just got my new hoops first ride they feel different but not in a good way. I know they need scrubbing in but got a bit of vibration on the bars is this just till the knobbly bits wear off. Can't say every noticed it on new tyres b4.
Check the brake callipers & bolts as these have to come off to take the front wheel off, check the wheels spindle and bearings & bolts if it's not these then get the balancing re-checked.
Hi tim, would you believe it I had a new front sportsmart fitted two weeks ago and straight away I noticed this! I bet when you take your hands off the bars they shake side to side yes? I went back to my local tyre fitter on Saturday he checked it out and found nothing wrong? I never had any issues with the original qualifier. Ive checked it all callipers spacers spindle torque settings. I reckon there's a problem here with a batch of them! Anyone else got a shake on?
I have tried the sportsmart at the dunlop dealer launch at silverstone and found them to be fantastic and will be fitting a set when my currant power ones are done, It seems very strange that you both have the same problem
Have them on my 10, tbh no shaking but don't get what all the hypes about. Went through a rear In around 1700 miles of road use, starting spinning up on dry roads from around 1200. Bought a second rear to match the front, which is now already looking sorry for itself. Won't be my next choice of tyre.
No nothing like that No nothing like that think it must have been holding a steady throttle for once had pins and needles in my fingers. And the old set must have been well squared off. Done 70 miles on them now and feel much better few more and I can start to enjoy round rubber again.
I'd question tyre balance if they use dynamic balance machine it could be out of calibration fine for cars but not for bikes if your man does both? Hence why we all use static (manual) tyre balancers gravity never lies... Can't remember if they have the yellow marker but if they do it should be inline with the valve to assist balancing, if it's not sometimes it can play havoc with the wheel as they are manufactured to take into account the valve weight...guessing?
1700 miles jesus thats an expensive hobby, my pirelli rosso 2 done well over 3k miles and when i traded it in it had at least 800/1000 left, thats with local fast twistys/1500 mile trip to Scotland/1 trackday at snetterton in inters.
I have put some weight on and think I need my suspension set up, which may brolong their life a little- sure I'm not the only one that goes through a rear in less than 2k though. Comparing it to the 929 that has pilot 3's on which appear to last much longer and in my view are a better all round tyre, although the tread pattern does make them look like they should be in a tractor!
Arthur Its a local bike shop being going years so would assume they know what there doing, the yellow mark is very near to the valve not exactly in line though. Only other difference is the Bridgeport 90 degree valve I asked them to fit for me, they said I could pay for another sportsmart £115 and they'd send it off to Dunlop but weren't hopeful. The older guy there says all Dunlop would say is you shouldn't take your hands off the bars ( as this is the only time I see or feel it happening) its not a big shake but it deffo wasn't there before . Suppose I'll just try another tyre when this ones goosed. We'll see.
Mmm I never claim to know it all mate but try..my idea is if I don't know ask....lol Bridgeport will be fine and the marker is only a guide does not have to be spot on IMO! Do you have a fender extender? They can cause wobble like overtight head race bearings as they catch the wind at slow speed and cause a odd left to right bar motion, I know people who do use them on blades as I do on my TDM....just another though... You could have a part worn (if I had one come in) thrown on for a test?
imagine how quick you'd eat tyres if you opened the throttle all the way??? ha ha seriously though, dont know how your destroying them that fast, had them on same bike - similar (if not the same lol) riding style and they were good for 3.5k at least? although i cant say for sure as i never really keep check on how long tyres last, how much mpg i get or anything like that... lol
No fender extender fitted Arthur, bike was fine with oe qualifier on changed to sportsmart and noticed it straight away, to be fair the tyre fitter said he would feel the same as me, ( wanting it spot on) if I thought it was dangerous I'd change it but it isn't it's just bugging me as to why it should have a shake when I let go of the bars, which of course we All know you should NEVER do . Lol
Lol, yeah so I've been told.... It's a pain mate but the only way to know is chuck another tyre on and test it....more work for your man....
Has not done in the past mate, sometimes as hard as you try to get them spot on the can slip round on the tyre machine and no amount of effort can move it round, once the slip drys thats it! If it were 45 or 90deg out then you could have put blame on that..seems your man knows the score with the markers
Yes it's a motor bike shop that has been going years never had any problems before always a good service. Having done nearly a 100 miles now there is no wobble just my throttle hand is starting to go a little numb. Gona give them a call see what they say.
Oh.....well cant help with the numb hand mate....can only suggest one leaves it alone at night.... lol
