Hi Guys Just joined the forum today as recommended by a mate of mine so hope you chaps might be able to help on this one. I have an 09 blade - runs great, however Ive just noticed this strange whirring sound when I have come off the throttle at moderate speed? I'm not sure if its always been there ( ever since i ran out of ear plugs ive been hearing a lot more!) but thought ide ask you guys if it is indeed an alien noise that should not be there, of if its just one of the many noises the bike makes! Any advise would be great many thanks Dougie
Hi mate, thanks for replying! I havnt checked them no ( I have abs not sure if that makes any odds). I dont get any scraping noises when manoeuvring the bike into the shed etc.
just thinking a pad could be binding and making more noise when warmed up. not sure with the abs as I havent worked with it before, maybe another member could give you info ... welcome to the forum btw
Could be a PAIR reed vibrating if its engine based noise from the top end, that or the PAIR selinoid... Hard to picture what kind of noise you mean??
The best way i can describe it is - you know if your riding a mountain bike down a hill quite fast you can hear the tyre noise? Its kind of like that but slightly higher pitched and only when im off the throttle?
PAIR valves (reed valves) allow fresh air into the exhaust in order to assist with the burning of any unburnt fuel in the exhaust to lower emissions... Pulsed Air Injection i think is the technical term?? A quick Google search brought this up... I have not read it but scanned through and looks like good basic info... http://www.moccsplace.com/images/pair/pair1.htm
Thats just what it is... Ive had this problem with tripples the PAIR system makes lots of noise, my post was just a guess.. TBH it sounds to me like chain noise, try drowning it in lube and see if its better, also check your slack..
I wonder if he is talking about the supercharger whine-type sound?? Although that was at slower speeds...
Thats the sort of thing i'd do. Then stand around looking bewildered, scratching my bollocks wondering why it blew, up. Lol
Cam chain tensioner?? I had this on a daytona 675, you should hear it at high RPM too if it is a slack cam chain. I could hear mine between gear changes it was that slack. I hear the old blades suffered tensioner failures...not sure about modern ones.
Have you got the alarm fob attached to the key? I was getting a whirring noise, and it was the alarm fob vibrating on the metal ring...it was driving me nuts until I discovered that was the culprit!
