That's two sad losses. One to the sport and one to the species.

Probably a good decision - Farquhar has done well to have lasted this long doing what he does, IMO.

Don't really agree with that post, sorry. Ryan is one of the safest and smoothest riders on the road. Having done 'well' to have 'lasted' as long as he has is certainly a statement that he'd not be likely to condone.

Trevor has helped a few mates that race, namely Shaun Anderson 2 years ago when he was taking part in his first Manx race. I've never had the pleasure to have met Trevor before, but friends of mine are friends of Ryan's and have nothing but nice things to say about him.

I'm not surprised to her of Ryan leaving the sport, but it will leave a massive hole for road racing personalities and a hole in the grid if he decides to pull the pin on his team (although from what I recall, Ryan did a deal with Kawasaki to introduce an ER class) He might leave the sport (something he's been talking about doing for the last few years) but I doubt he'll turn his back on the sport.

    God speed #35

He has seen the effects on a family and his heart is no longer in it, he has made the right decision for him and that must be respected.

Obviously a difficult decision but if his hearts not in it then the right decision.

Gutted, it's so true how when you see first hand the effects of such loss it can change you forever, my mate committed suicide and watching his little girl read how she missis her dad, crying her eyes out as he was lowered into the ground was an example of how you can be effected direct to the heart for the rest of your life, same with mates of mine who have died on bikes, years later I still wonder what life would be like if they were still here.. Sad thing is for RF there are so may things that can kill us, a trip to the shops, busses you name it, however I have to say the odds of dying in road racing! Well super high! I can understand why he would quit, fair play to him for all he's done in over the years, what a racer!

yeah road racing does have high cost's,
my family have always been around road racing and my dad used to do it but turned his back on the sport after
his good friend joe lindsay who he had mentored was killed in skerries.road racing has some great highs and some awful
low's, I personally know far too many that have lost there lives doing this sport.many racers choose to ignore this
but when they cant its time to call it a day.

I stopped doing road racing 14 years ago for the same reasons. But despite all this, I still get the urge to go back and do it once more.
