Nice 1 Fez. It's stressful enough at insurance time, never mind when it's hard to get insured in the first place.
Yea I got the blade and ktm with them, the blade was about 230 then they added the ktm on for 1p Funniest thing is several companies would insure the blade but not the ktm because its too powerful !!! It's a 125 so make sense of that. There is no cheap isurance companies anymore it's just pot luck I think
Mate just Photoshop the figures, no one will notice... On a serious note. Have you tried Carole Nash, not via the web site direct on the phone? I had a huge problem getting insurance under a grand for my new blade last year because I had a few years away from bikes and therefore lost all my no claims bonus. After talking to someone who had half a brain and explained the score, how long I had rode bikes before, what I had owned etc etc he said I will call me back. Sure enough he did and the offer was five and half fully comprehensive for what he called a special situation policy (think thats what he called it) which I was happy about. When I renewed again this year they where the cheapest by far at just over four hundred. I was well happy with that kind of reduction even though I still think its a lot for an 50year old fart like me. Got be worth a punt Fez
I will certainly give them ago. i usually get all the cheap online quotes and then phone them up and then play them off against each other. i am still to hear from my current insurer so i hope they will also give me something better. £500 does seem expensive as bike devils fully comp cover was £625 and im 27 years younger. but my big advantage is living in a small little town so insurance rates are very low to start with
Had a Blade nicked in July, protected NCB, broker advised me that the insurer will not quote again as claim over 5K. Paid £210 all in for the policy. So broker then quoted £1150!! Webbed around and found H&R the cheapest for 10 plate Blade at £320 inc protected NCB commuting etc. Filled in details online, paid by credit card and my new insurer is............the same as my old one!!!! Double checked with H&R, just to make sure everything was in order and no problem, they just have a different scheme with the insurer than previous broker and theft claim was no issue in their scheme, so ended up with identical policy, protected NCB and same excess.......what a load of boll**ks
Then I don't see why you're complaining I pay about 160£ a month when the bike is in use and about 45£ when it's in storage during winter. And that doesn't even cover if I wreck the bike myself ^__^ So if I don't put it in storage, about 1990£ for me then Full insurance would be about 2700£. Consider yourselves lucky
Finally had my quote from h&r which was £372. Phoned them yesterday to say i have found a cheaper quote else where and they agreed to drop their price to £340, i cant complain about that
I was doing the quotes last night... my renewal came in at £305 which aint bad, but always best to shop around. So, ran the normal round of quotes, all as expected (300-400)... then thought better tell them about my non-OE screen... repeated the round, most quotes didnt change, except for one that went up to £9000 Out of interest, some of you guys have quite heavily modified bikes...... do you declare all your mods, and if so, who do you find is fairest for insuring modified bikes?
Slightly off subject - my daughter drives a 'W' plate Ford Ka worth about £500, with an excess of £400 - £450 and a policy cost of about £300 for fully comp. we look at third party or t.p.f.t as a cheaper option but unbelievably both were dearer than fully comp. go figure.
