As above has anyone done one of these events, and whats it like, looking to book this week, any advice ? are bikes looked after when transported etc ? its with Focused Events.....
I have done quite a few spanish days with FE. The on-track time is great; usually open pit (at least in the afternoon) & much more relaxed that 1-day UK grouped days. I struggled a lot with Almeria but most people really like it. The off-track banter in the garages, hotel & bars is great too; you will suddenly have about 80 new mates. I think you have to remember that FE are not a travel agency & many people get frustrated with slow response to queries etc. In the end it all comes together. Track wise, I highly recommend Jerez in you have that option.
Hi mate, Just got back from Almeria with Focused (7th time there). Bikes are transported out in FE's own vehicles and I've never had any issues. They don't run open pitlane on Euro events any more its all run on transponders and groups based on pace. If you have any questions just ask as after havinhg done about 10 euro days in the last 5 years I've encountered most things.
You need to wrap your bike in a blanket or you may get some strap rubbing marks. Not a big deal on a track bike but if it's your pride and joy it's worth taking the time to protect it. i've done several and had a fantastic time every time. Other than the one when I broke my wrist and collar bone !
Im also interested in this event. Do you know where the bike pick up point is in the UK? Never done a Euro track day, only afew in the UK. Any info welcome.
You might want a rethink...... bikes have to be taken down to Focused Events Depot..... unless they might do local pickup from a track near you ? Not many more UK events left....
The depot is in West Sussex, but as above they also do pickups from tracks where they are running trackdays. They do car days as well as bikes so look at both calendars but your best bet is to call them. Euro trackdays are fantastic, far fewer idiots, generally better weather and the fact you have 3 or 4 days means everyone is more relaxed. Have a few too many beers one night..., no problem just turn up at lunchtime.
Yes give them a call as this year they have started doing pickups from all over. Even though I dropped my bike at donnington there was no trackday on (was actually the saturday of BSB) and the driver had just come from Manchester and then was going on to birmingham.
I have given them a ring. They can pick up at donny or manchester. Normall 2-3 weeks before event, but it depends on numbers. If not i would need to go to west sussex. (chuffing miles away from me)
Sorry to hijack the thread but me and another mate from central Scotland are looking to book this event also ! Googled Almeria 6th December 2012 and up came this Could maybe sort out a collection nearer to scotland if there are a few bike going from here , Or else it's a van and drive to the drop off point !
So are any of your forum boys going ?? Just home after a very stressful shop fit..... (sorry Craig) ! and cant wait to blip that throttle ! taking bikes down to Focused Events depot on saturday........Yippee !!
Took the trackbike down to Focused events Drop off in West Sussex this weekend.......... only just over a week to go....!
Remember your key ! My mate went had his rc8 shipped out all kit packed and ready..... Got there went to bike .... Bugger lol He does not get to many reminders lol
Well go straight there and don't talk to strangers and look both ways before crossing the road... ...and give us 3 rings when you get there.
plenty of pics please Rob!! enjoy and stay safe.... would love to do one of these, maybe treat myself for my 30th next September when the season here comes to a close. love to do valencia, jerez, motorland or portimao - who's done what and which is best?
You lucky lucky b'stard! Only one other thing I'd rather be doing today and that's finding that lost lottery ticket for 63 million!! Enjoy yourself matey and stay safe.
I'm sure you'll love the trip/track. I did Almeria in November and had a great time, especially the instruction from Jeremy McWilliams.
What a brilliant time...... well worth the money and great fun.... top score to Focused Events, Steve Plater fronted the event and Tuition was available from Hodgson (Neil not Roy) ! and Niall Mackenzie........ will be going again
