Hi all. Hope someone can help! I've just started to fit a jardine rt-1 exhaust n wanted to keep the heat shield but don't no if I can, mounted it up n it's rubbing/catching....as anyone else had this problem??? Also is it ok to do away with the heat shield! Please help as I'm losing hair lol. Cheers steveid
Don't think you can keep it with the jardine. Mate of mine has the same can an he ditched it. Although he didn't want to keep it anyway. He's not had any problems not having the shield fitted although if you carry a pillion they may get a little warm!
I've had to melt both lowers and have removed all the heat-shields on my RR6 when I fitted the Arrow system. No big deal, really and I think it looks 'cleaner' with it all gone.
I removed the heat shield when I fitted my Akrapovic. To avoid cooking my arse (and avoid cooking my baccy under the pillion seat!) I fitted some sticky-back heat-shield material, which I stuck directly to the underside of the undertray. The fitting instructions for the Scorpion exhaust shows how to do this, and includes a handy template to help you cut the correct shapes out of the heat-shield material: click for PDF Plenty of people say its not necessary (and they're probably right) but nonetheless, I feel better knowing I'm not going to be toasting my tobacco whilst I'm out riding
I used the sticky heatshield Please keep me updated on the quality and the sound etc of the can as I have been tempted to get one for ages
Thanks everyone for getting back to me. It's on looks great BUT don't think I like the sound....bit to load.
That was the same for me on my 2010 the RT5 was just obscenely loud and I hated it to be honest. I bought the baffle for it as well but that made it sound worse! I ended up with the yoshi R77 on mine and that's loud as well but with the baffle in its perfect for me. What you gonna do?
I love the look of it but sound is also important, is it a nice loud or a tacky loud? Does that make sense lol I know what I mean
Now now! The rt5 was tacky loud (as you say) on my 2010. It was very harsh and sounded rough. I'm guessing this is the same! Annoying really as my mates Daytona 675 sounds the nuts with his Jardine!
It's defo for sale just need to sort another one out first. Give me your number n I'll ring you about it.
