Never been able to do one on a honda c-abs equipped bike, tried on a hornet, CB1000r and the blade, the rear will rise a little but you get more of a sensation that the rear is kinda floating but not rising. I guess due to the c-abs the rear would potentially lock as soon as it comes off the road, the ecu would see this as a stoppie and reduce braking on the front. TBH I've never been able to stunt on demand.

The C-ABS system prevents you pulling stoppies. Grab the front as hard as you like but the rear will do nothing more than skim the ground. It does stop the bike yawing from side-to-side though when stopping hard. I like it
Should it even be doing that? I thought it operated the back brake once the sensor recognised harder than normal braking was being applied through the front. And vice versa if you stamp on the back brake. The front brake is applied, thus settling the bike as quickly as possible?
yeah that's what i get, under normal circumstances both brakes are applied when the right lever is pulled, once the rear get light zero braking force goes to the rear, i'm guessing the ecu has a stoppie scenario programmed in preventing the bike from tipping
If you really want to do a stoppie on your abs equipped blade, a cheekie little wheelie will normally turn the abs off (flashing led tells u so) then you have good ol fashioned manual brakes too. Best of both worlds for the lunatic in you!
So how did ya find that out, and how long does the ABS stay off before auto-resetting? Must be quite quick otherwise if one was to pull a wheelie and sumat pulled out just as the wheel has dropped back down it would lock up possibly if the rider grabbed a handful assuming the ABS would save em!
I think it continues to flash the ABS light until the ignition is switched off and back on again, allowing the system to reset itself. I had the light flashing for a bit (not from a wheelie, just that I upset it by rolling the bike backwards too fast after starting I think!) and it didn't reset until I pulled into a layby to switch it off and back on again. I confirmed to myself it wasn't working by locking the rear wheel briefly too
Hmmm, seems strange that? So what your saying is that every time you pop a wheelie the ABS cuts out and flashes a led light continually until you pull over and switch off and on the ignition? I'd have thought we'd have heard complaints about that by now if so? Can other ABS owners confirm this?
Yeah I agree. As I say I've not experienced the flashing ABS light from a wheelie condition (manual states the front wheel must be in the air for at least a second for this to happen) so my experience may well be very different. Perhaps others can comment. I would also expect the system to self-correct once the wheel lands again, or at least within a few seconds
DOESNT WORK LIKE THAT. Its the same as when you first start it, the ABS unit will trigger at 10mph, is then on until interuppted or ignition off, when the wheel lands from a wheelie it will come on when the sensor realises its doing over 10mph, it then kicks the ABS back in.
Well guys thanks for the input ref to "abs" or "not to abs" . Spoke to my local dealer and waiting for a price for new non abs Repsol Blade(sorry but it just looks so good, well in my eyes anyway, will the wife let me put it in our hall...mmmm have to work on that one) managed 30 odd years without needing it so far and it will be used on dry sunny days and track days mostly...........trusty GSXR1000K2 will be used on crap days. Like to get it up every now and again and at my age and with greying hair thats great without tablets!!!!!!! Asked for the following to be fitted: R77 Yoshimura slip on PC5 GB Racing engine covers R&G crash bobbins(drill holes in fairing type) R&G bobbins front and rear R&G Bar ends ASV levers Honda seat cowl Repsol bike cover Honda tank protector Lets see how much I have to pay for this lot....best price i hope, waiting for e mail from dealer...gulp!!!!! cheers
Ok! Ive had enough, I hate to slag off my new bike 6 months old c-abs. But ive had enough of the infernal abs problem. I really didnt want to post this because when it is working it is undoubtedly brilliant. BUT, there is the problem! it is constantly failing and turning itself off. I defended this by saying that you ended up with conventional brakes...well you sort of do but when the leaver feels spongey and comes so far back you pin your finger its WORRYING to say the least. This bike is my only transport and I use it daily for work, but its scaring the jesus out of me in this shitty wet weather. Ive phoned Doble motorcycles and will make the trip down on Saturday for them to fault find, but im really not happy. I got so used to Hondas being reliable and desirable that this has really knocked me for six! Ill keep you people informed but rest assured I really wish id spent the extra money on extras rather than abs
