Was my road bike but I'm wanting to use her mainly for track now, still need to get her to pass a mot as I've got my private plate on her (stupid I know but never had the money spare for the retention fee) another good night fault finding tomorrow and hopefully ill be closer to getting her alive. When you swapped engines the camshaft sensor on RR7 has a different adaptor to the RR4 loom, I had to remove the exhaust sensor of the RR4 and fit it onto the 07 Original post mentioned gearbox problems no mention of igntion as well. Something simple adrift like a sensor down thus not completing ignition check. My theory is to clearly identify the problem and not in the hope that a replacement will be the cure. Just keep digging in there JG!!!
Yeah VERY good point! When you check your connectors be sure to check the wires in and out of them, that they line up and are correct...
What have you done with the old engine? I may need one soon if mines dead (just got to check the simple bits)
Hey the old engine is just sitting about, prob not gonna be using it so prob be looking to sell it or break it for parts. Was working on the bike till 4am this morning, took off alarm, pc3, ignition module, even the speedo healer off and checked every connection, fuse, relay, side stand, tilt sensor, kill switch and still nothing, the fuel pump is priming and i'm getting fuel still just no bloody spark, I was trying to figure out how to get the FI lights I seen if you bridge the data connection green and brown it should work without starting bike but still nothing, when looking in the manual it says if no FI lights come on that it could be the ecu, priced one up and should be getting delivered today so here's hoping I can get her started! wish me luck lol
Hope that cures it for you, if you do sell it please let me know as mine may have just gone bang! So may need a replacement or parts
Just gives a shout Martin if your needing anything from old engine as it's sitting there not getting used. Well the ecu i ordered yesterday arrived, went down fitted it and still no spark, so again checked every plug again, checked kill switch, side stand switch, tilt sensor, camshaft sensor, crank sensor, clutch switch, neutral switch and oil pressure switch, all fuses and relays and nothing, I'm really feeling lost, would a faulty coil short all the coils packs? I found this video on youtube and was wondering if anyone has experienced this before? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lewyfjIzcpM The battery having enough power to light everything up prime fuel pump and turn the starter but not enough to feed the ecu and to power the coils and fire spark plugs? I was thinking about trying a car battery as i'd know that would have enough power to turn everything. Has to be worth a go I suppose as i'm really clutching at straws now!
I jumped my dead battery of the car a few times, that would answer that therory pretty quick if you try
By checking the resistance when it's in contact and out of contact of metal as i imagined it was just the same as a proximity sensor. Not 100% sure if it is the right method but it the readings were changing by the contact of the metal and when not in contact of metal so i imagined if it's reading it it had to be alright.
you can use a car battery but they can do damage due to the higher cranking power. in answer to the question then yes as the coild need a big chunk of power,but if it's turning over then should have enough to make a spark.just get yours charged up and go from there. or,find a big hill and bump it,if it starts then it's battery related.this way would rule quite a few things out tbh. do you want to try a different set of coil sticks? for postage i'll send 4 up,if they work then you can have them for a few quid,if not just send them back.

you dont need a diagnostic tool,you can do it manually. cant remember off top of my head where it is,but theres a DLC connector,think it's on the left hand side of the frame (pg 158 wrkshop manual).use this to give you any fault codes.can be a bit arsey to read them all but does work.(i know!!!) to short it you just need a wire loop,or a multi metre-put onto alarm so you know it's making the circuit.
Yeah a wee green plug 4 wires someone said short the brown and green i think to get the fi lights but i cant get anything from it at all. cheers

Well shortened the data connection and got code 51 about the steering damper, but it says it does not stop the engine from starting, I tried erasing the code but it wouldn't so i imagine it is at fault currently. So i'm kinda stumped again as i can't imagine this being my problem and stopping it starting.
tbh without actually getting my hands on the bike and looking it's hard to diagnose any more. you might have to bite the bullet and get it to a dealer
