So after looking at a fair few bikes and thinking over things the last few days I have decided the next bike once the hrc blade is gone will be an SP1. Went for a look at an sp2 today and had a sit on it aswell and there is plenty of room on them for me. So now I just need to get looking for a decent sp1 for around the 4 grand mark. Already spotted a couple but won't be doing anything about them till the blade is gone which should be about mid day tomorrow.
Keep us in the loop then JG. I'm glad you could wrap yourself around one but stunned at the same time.
Like a Ducati that's been to charm school Jimmy. The power delivery when you roll it on is like a jet engine, relentlessly building while it bellows out behind you. The Blade feels explosive by comparison. Like a flea leaping of a dog, one second it's there, the next it's gone. The VTR is probably no slower, but I found that the experience of 'proceeding' was much more linear. You can feel all the events piling on top of each other and process them much better as sensations. It's more 'going, going......Gone!' Where the Blade is more 'Gone!'
They cost less basically and one of the reasons i sold the blade was to loose montly payments on it. The sp1 i can buy outright.
Enjoy the search mate. I'll be finished mine tomorrow after 4 months of tinkering and honestly love the thing.
I will mate. Will prob also be picking your brains about them aswell no doubt. To start with is there anything I should particularly be looking at on them ?
Only thing I had to really do was the valve stem oil seals as there was a very slight puff of smoke when the bike was revved standing still. Which was probably down to it being run with an exhaust and not having a map uploaded and the bike running lean because of that. The bikes are pretty much built proof to be honest. A powercomander is pretty much a necessity and most will already have 1 to sort the low down fueling, and also lower gearing helps. Any questions mate just ask. I learned it all from arthurbikemad, but I'll take the credit
lol, I know crap like the injector flow rates and duty cycle of the sp... and many more USELESS facts....why I know is what I don't know... Nice bikes, I love them and I feel that they are truly a classic superbike that are great to ride anywhere...and are holding money more and more, I'm not sure you can go wrong... I kill for a nice trick one but trick parts are getting hard to find and seem to get some big bucks NOT that there is anything wrong with a bog standard bike! I just love the Edwards Castrol Honda! My girls picture hung over me on the sofa
I have a mate has one in Cornwall, needs a new tank he says, rust caused a leak, will ask him if he will sell??? Otherwise, anyone know where I can get a tank for him??
Not everyone's cup of tea but I like it 2000 HONDA VTR1000 SP-1 - COLIN EDWARDS STARS AND STRIPES - NO RESERVE | eBay If you buy it I will accept a ride as a finders fee
Seen that one, i like the colour scheme but its got 29000 miles on it which is a bit much for my liking. My number one runner to go look at at the mo is this one on gumtree Honda VTR 1000 SP1!!! Brilliant condition!!! in London | Motorbikes & Scooters for Sale | Gumtree.com Also a couple more on other sited but that looks the best.
