Hows things lads im due to servise my bike now in the comeing week im just wondering is ther an engine flush you add to your oil to clean the engine out before you drain the oil and filter i have done it for my car you put it in with thw oil start the car for 5min and turn it off and drain the oil and it cleans out the gunk out any one know if this is possible with a 06rr engine????
I have never used any flush product on a bike. I just warm it up before the oil change, havent had any issues doing it this way.
Iv never had any issue either to be honest but the way shit builds up in pipes and stuff inside the engine flush cleans it out in a car im justt wondering is ther one for a bike or is it safe to use the car one in the bike???
the service intervals on cars are longer and the oil is thicker so I personally feel no need for flush unless the bike has been abandoned in a garage for many years.
I'd be a little cautious about adding anything to the oil due contaminating the clutch linings. Once the old oil has been drained I put in about 200ml of the new oil in and let that drain through too. (Maybe a little wasteful)
My mate once put engine flush in his car then after warming the engine and draining then refilling with fresh oil. A few miles later the engine seized because the flush dislodged all the build up around the engine and blocked the oil pickup pipe. So i wouldnt recommend using oil flush on anything especially a motorbike. Take the bike for a ride get it nice and warm then drain the oil out and try not to burn your fingers!
