The S1000RR was great fun, fast but very fragile. It ran it's cams after 3k and BMW knew there was a problem with a batch of chocolate camshafts, however they were not prepared to swap the mill and only offered a top end. I pointed out that the cams had shed 50thou in to the engine and even though the filter and strainer should take it out, you couldn't be sure oil ways were free. After 4 months of deliberation they agreed to take the bike back at top book plus a £1000 as long as i stayed with BMW, hense i now have the K1300S. This has had 4 official recalls for mods to switch gear, brakes, suspension and cam jump guard.!!!!
