Aye. The two best upgrades I've done to any bike were paying £45 for this guy to set my suspension up and switching to Pilot Power 2CTs with a 55 rear.

I had the RR6 and 2 RR8's and I think the newer bikes are much better but that's just my opinion.

dont doubt it for a second, but was the rr6 that bad??

personally i think for the road any bike in the last 10 years is prob too much for 90% of us to get the most out of it....

They are both great bikes and I could never get to the limit on either of them but as a novice I just think the newer bike is better to ride.

they do make things sooo much easier hey. Dave V is a great example, when he is on his 929 he keeps up but you can tell he is working harder for it.... on his 2010 it's not an issue at all.

Thats the way I feel too about my 04 . Im my humble and very personal opinion I prefer look of the fairings, the polished swingarm and the underseat zorst . Most changes have been merely tweaking to give the marketing department some ammunition to persuade people to upgrade. The upgraded differences are probably irrelevant for road use Mine has 12,000 miles on it and is immaculate so I can think of better ways to spend difficult to find money, and anyway I lurve my bike:)

I loved my rr5, it did everything well but felt very heavy compared to my rr11. The rr 11 is so much different to ride, it tips into Corners with ease and seems quicker handling wise.
If you're not sure what to do, get a replacement fairing and give it a facelift, spend a bit on getting the suspension set up - not much money to give you a new bike feeling.
Its a tough decision, it is a lot of extra money to lay out for not much more performance, but a bit quicker and lighter handling.

I know what you mean. I was wandering around Bridge Motorcycles the other day looking at some cracking bikes but I didn't think any of them compared to my 954 in looks. I like the look of the last two model blades but mine is still more handsome. A bit chunky around the middle by comparison but still gorgeous.

Reminded me so much of someone......couldn't quite place who...

i went from an 07 to an 11 plate blade and the newer one feels so much quicker midrange and above but having said that i was faster and more confident on the 07. sometimes wish i,d not changed and kept the 5k difference i paid in the bank or bought a better second bike with it.

What a great thread this turned into, its so good to see honest answers about people passions.

Not sure if any of them help at all, but for my 2 pennies worth I bought the repsol blade last July Over the anniversay edition.
I love its looks, its power is awesome and I love the repsol paint (I always have)

    now bad bits
making them lighter makes them more fragile, more clips less bolts (not good for the long haul -had my last blade 15yrs)
the low down power delivery is terrible as standard, quite snatchy in traffic/towns.
the original tyres Dunlop Qualifiers are made from hardened dog shit!

If you love your bike and shes not needing more repairs than polish, buy it some serious mods (suspension/handling) and love it more!

Feel the same way bout my 929. Been getting some serious bike envy looking at some of the metal being ridden by the guys on this forum but it's the same every year. I go out and kick some tyres convincing myself i need to upgrade but at the point I need to actually stump up the cash I just can't justify it in my head cause I still love the look of my bike and it ain't no slouch!!!

I'm sure if I won the lottery it would be different story though lol!!! :D

Bang on Jimbo. The 10's is without doubt a better bike, am I any quicker on it, not always.

Aside from the obvious in bhp, the brakes are a real factor. Notice it most when I jump from one bike to another.

My favourite blade is still the 954. Its very reminiscent of the 08+ bike but with even more feeling of being over the front wheel
