Morning everyone. I'm looking for a set of paddock stands front & rear so I can remove the wheels from my blade. Any suggestions? I have a fairly tight budget.

Yeah well ive already got a rear paddock stand and have just tried to use it but when lifted the bike sits at quite an angle and i dont trust it not to fall over. Its because on the blade (looking from the rear of the bike) the LHS swingarm is parallel to the floor and the RHS swing arm is sloped up. Cant get my head round it!!!

I recently bought this Oxford light weight Ally rear stand.
Oxford Aluminium Rear Paddock Stand - FREE UK DELIVERY

Although it looks good the screw fittings that clamp the top down were not machined straight and took a bit of re-engineering to work correctly (Couldn't be arsed to send it back)

What did Piss me off is they don't make a matching front stand!

Shoulda bought the BikeTec set instead which do match up as pair.

try ghost bikes, they do "ok" stands at a good price.

harris are very good but not cheap, the red ones on ebay are ok,but you do get what you pay for.

Can anyone explain what they've done with their 08+ blades with the swingarm being sloped up on one side and parallel to the ground on the other? It makes the bike lean when lifted up and I dont trust it!!

added some bobbins to mine so it didnt mark the swinging arm but cant say Ive noticed it seitting anything but straight.
maybe its because of the bobbins. are you using them?

Has anyone ever tried using a ratchet strap round a ceiling beam to lift off the yoke and raise the front end?

I've had the front and back wheels out of my 1999 Fireblade this way. One wheel at a time. Just make sure the ceiling beam is pretty solid!!

Unless you live in a barn i would not chance the ceiling beam method as ''The Beam'' is only usually a piece of 3x2 which is designed to carry a small length of plaster board .

i have just bought the oxford front and rear. Very sturdy. easy to use the rear. i was sweating a bit the first time i lifted the front. i was surprised how much weight is on the front compared to the back. Make sure you only use the front one on flat surface as much less forgiving.
    approx cost 50-60 each stand

    cheers harry
