Looked through the manual and still can't get the mpg to read mpg. It always seams to miles per litre. Any ideas on how to get it to read mpg. p.s not that its really important as i'm not going to start riding like miss daisy if the figures look crap. Cheers Harry
Am I the only one who finds this as clear as mud? I want to see mph (UK signage) indicated but fuel shown in (how it's delivered at the pump) litres. Oh, and I'll bet they're talkin' American gallons
If your press the top button it brings up Total mileage, trip A and trip B Pressing the lower button brings up Gal used (since last reset of trip meter), Mil/gal and average mil/gal 2010 blade
The 2012 bikes have a daft litres per mile unit or similar, 2008 bikes have mpg if clocks in mph or litres/100km if you switch to kph
Don't think so, instructions are not easy to follow. No Av MPG and no graphical fuel gauge along with shyte mirrors are my only gripes with the 2012 model
Correct (as far as I know) - very frustrating when you know your reserve light comes on with 0.5 of a gallon and cannot quickly see what your MPG has been for that tank and work out how far you can go till you start walking
The information I want when I'm on me bike; How far can I travel (approx) 'till my reserve light comes on? And, when it does, how far can I go (nursing it) before my options are down to one and I need to call the RAC?
Rubbish mate - sorry, but if you are out in the sticks or in more remote parts of Spain / France and you don't know where a garage is etc. its incredibally handy to see 'ah, light is just on, I've averaged 52mpg, so I have 25 miles to go, that sign is saying town / digs with a garage is 20km away so I can make it no problem' or on motorway you see signs saying services 3 miles and 18 miles / 32 miles away and you KNOW you make the far one which gets you to destination that bit quicker. I
Fill the bike.....90-100 miles going easy 70-80 spanking it on. No need to worry about petrol out in the sticks. Reserve light comes on you have about 25-30 miles to find A petrol station.no need to have this function just like lap timers. Another function to distract your attention from the road In front if you.I done a tour of ireland on an 848 that gets Around 65 miles to a tank and there is plenty of out in The sticks area's to contend with.
Honda have managed to make up a new unit of measure for the 2012 model. It is a joke. I moaned about this before. Never mind multiply by 4.5 the whole point of having a trip computer is that it does the multiplication for you.
I think it makes sense... If the UK had managed to drag itself kicking and screaming fully into the SI world of sanity you could just have km/l. But having gone half way (Petrol in litres but distances in miles) you get the prevailing units, which make perfect sense. (Albeit I still prefer km of course. They're sane. At least they represent something other than some dead monarchs stride, or was it his thumb?). H
Sorry but people of my age prefer MPG. You can't mix the two units. Interestingly the Honda website does quote m/l but that doesn't make it right. I am sure they must be breaking some EU regulations. If they want to use m/l let them, but I see nothing wrong with the trip computer doing the calc for you as another press of the button. Are you listening Honda?
The only reason they use litres in the forecourt (imo) is to try and and make the price easier to swallow. Everything else uses MPG and is the standard used for comparing the economy for all vehicles in the UK. Its a bit of a mental gear change.
cheers JM1 i have 2012 model i suppose i will just have to multiply by 4.5 which is looking good cos even with a spirited ride it is showing 11.9 l/m
