Here ya go mate. Not an iPhone mount but a TomTom but it's the same mounting etc etc Mines straight as a die so not sure what's gone wrong with yours without seeing it first hand?
thanks for posting the pix mate, i can see exactly how yours fits now! ill attack this at the weekend
ok, yours did seem to sit a touch off centre too, thanks for the pix. Put my mind at rest, although i coukdnt resist tinkering with mine. Have a look at the kit blademan originally posted , see what you reckon
Being off center works in my favour. I twisted my fitting so that it tightens up off centre on the vertical plane. i.e. my 'Ball Center' is 60% up from the bottom of the Tripple Clamp hole which thus moves my Sat Nav that little bit further away from the Tank Bag. Happy Daze!
yep, i can see exactly what you mean by your photos, it would be close to rubbing take on your holder! tell me did you fit the powere cable too, I had a nightmare trying to find a way through all the abs wiring etc
Power cabling was the easy bit! (Unfair advantage being an Electrician!) I just used an Optimate USB lead which plugs straight in to the two pronged permanent Battery lead which pokes out of the side of the Bike for the Battery charger connection. This then runs up to the headstock under the Tank cover and then is Zip tied to the clutch cable. This then gives me a female USB outlet to which I can plug in anything on the market as all OEM's provide a USB lead for their devices so it's future proof. I can also plug in my Phone charger or Camera/Video/iPad/Go-Pro etc etc chargers & Gear stored in the Tank bag whilst riding.
Fitted mine today, 2m power lead to lighter socket in tail. Used some heat shrink over metal bits on ball mount, then cut along joints of the two crossover parts so that the ball sits central. Works a treat...!!
That looks awesome can you provide a link to the kit you bought, include power cables etc? I'm looking for the same for my iPhone 5 and 13 Blade. Cheers!
http://www.ultimate-mobiles.co.uk/mobile-phones/apple/apple-iphone-4G/bike-mounts/ua-stem-iphone4-hardcase___876.htm I ordered the 2m car charger from them also. You need to select the 20.5mm to 24.5mm ball stem. I might also order the 3" extender arm also in the future, just to raise it a bit..?? They also do a powered version, but costs quite a bit more for a iPhone plug one end and 2 eyelet crimps the other to connect straight to battery.
Thanks for that! I suppose the only problem with these sat navs is they take you on the most direct/fastest route rather than the twisty/fun route?
I use Co Pilot on the iPhone, they update well and its a bit cheaper than TomTom. Nice interface and lets you choose bike or car for routes as well as allowing you 3 choice of route or adjusting the route by dragging. Dont have a windy route tho (sounds a good idea too)
The app has it, although living in Wales, the winding roads setting tries taking you down some random small roads with weeds growing in the middle...!! I tend to leave mine on fastest route, as most of the main roads where I live are quality Also has walking route, Eco route, shortest, avoid motorways, bicycle, and limited speed ( for lorries??). Winding roads has minimum, medium, and max setting for amount of windiness..!! Top tip, don't pay the 30 odd quid for the tomtom uk app, once I had a brows at the other GPS apps available, a couple of days later, tomtom app was reduced to 20 odd quid, bargain..!! Works just the same as car Tom Tom, but does chew the battery a bit.
Cheers guys will check it out. Does any of them let you plan a route (say on a PC) and then upload into the phone app?
http://download.tomtom.com/open/manuals/app_for_iphone/refman/TomTom-app-en-US.pdf...... downloadable info on app. But I'll try and explain.... Open maps on phone, and when you're in the planning directions screen, there's tabs at the top with a car,man and bus. Select the bus, and it opens the route up in tomtom app.
