Hi everyone Two of us are going to Southern Ireland Thurs / Sunday in July. Ferry from Holyhead to Dublin and then off down to Cork. Does anyone have any suggestions of other good places to go and see, or good roads to use, in that part of the world? Places to stay and good drinking hostel information would be good, as well as good B+B's or small hotels. Thank you Jules
Just got back from a 5 day visit to southern Ireland. Off the Ferry and over to Galway, stayed over in a Jury's Inns all the way as they all have decent secure parking for Bikes. Hotels in Dublin City Centre, London hotels, Manchester hotels | Jurys Inn Galway to Cork, did two nights in Cork as it's a good night out, especially in the Old Oak Pub Cork to Dublin via Waterford. Kept off the Motorways if it wasn't raining and stuck to the twisties. Dublin's not cheap for a night out, expect another Euro on top for a Pint! Watch out for pickpockets late on in Dublin, they're very good at it apparently! Rough map of what we did.
I did pretty much the same last year but used Travelodge, stayed in waterford for 2 nights and did the surrounding area, over to Cork and what have you, Then over to Galway via Limerick and did 2 nights there, weather wasn't that good so I did the pubs in galway. Get yourself a good set of waterproofs because you will probably need them.
the glengarriff to kenmare then killareny road is the best road ever and a must ride.the views will blow you away.
Get yer self to Kinsale and have a meal at Fishy Fishy! Fishy Fishy Restaurant Reviews, Kinsale, Ireland - TripAdvisor Tis not far behind Rick Steins Seafood Restaurant in Padstow. There's a nice bar on the Harbour front in Skibereen to stop off for a coffee on the way over to Kinsale as well
kinsale is where the round the world yacht race would stop over. bantry bay up the coast also has the best Guinness around.
Yes, it aint cheap is it? Brucie Bonus though is it's full of pissed up Chix on Hen Weekends open to abuse! ..........................................allegedly, I might add!
Only just saw this, but would agree that you should head for Killarney and then do the full ring of Kerry, google it, but remember the buses all go anti clockwise! If you fancy heading north of the border though the Armoy road races are on 26/27th July if you're around.
If you do go to armoy or North I can show you guys around the antrim coast road, one of the best bike roads around.
Hi Jules, if your going up the west side you would not want to miss Dingle. The Conner Pass is a route to Dingle that is a little bit special. Mick
yeah thats another good road, I have that marked on my tour map too, that and the glengarriff road are very similar.
