I've just found out that I have passed my lvl 2 motorcycle maint course and have already been accepted onto the lvl 3 course, so now it's a quick update of the cv then hand a load out to local bike shops to see if I can get some work, oh the joys!

Grats mate although I'm not sure if this is a genuine post or just looking for work. An intro would be good :)

What do you learn on these courses out of interest? Are they industry recognised?

You learn quite a lot, from minor/major servicing, electronics, fault finding etc, plus theory about every part of a bike. E.g frames, engines. And we have about 40 bikes to work on from 50cc mopeds to 1000cc sports bikes over the past week I've been helping rebuild a turbo charged nos injection gsxr drag bike engine after it blew a huge hole in the crank case. It is industry recognised and most bike places expect you to have at least a lvl 3 qualification and experience before they consider to employ you as a mechanic

Nice. Thanks for the explanation. So what sorta cost & timeline would you be looking at to get all the way to level 3? Is it a part time course?

Bcoz I'm a mature student (31) it's about £1350 per course you have to do a foundation course first then lvl 1,2 + 3 I managed to get straight onto lvl 1 and have just completed lvl 2, so now I have 1 year to do lvl 3. There is a masters degree I can do if I pass lvl 3 but not a lot of colleges offer it as there are only 11 people in the uk who hold that qualification who don't work and/or trained by honda ironically. It a 3 day a week course classed as full time 2 days in a workshop and 1/2 day theory.
