Finally picked my black blade up today and am wondering what's the best polish to use on black paint? I bow to your superior knowledge Cheers Taff
When I had a black blade I used turtle wax black polish, it doesn't leave white powder and covered up scratches, trust me it will look good. An alternative is turtle wax Ice, again no white residue.
How bad is the bikes paintwork at the moment? Is the polish to get rid of scratches/swirls already present or to maintain an already good finish? Pretty sure halfords have a 3 for 2 and a 10% off deal on at the moment depending on cleaning products chosen!
The paintwork is pretty good a couple of little swirls here and there. Is meguires expensive. I normally use Mer but it can leave white marks
Depending on which megs range you choose it can be a little expensive, which merr do you use? Old blue bottle version or the newer range? Merr will work fine on the bike, if you have loads left I would use the rest up and then look for something different to replace it if you are not satisfied with the results. If you are getting a lot of dusting from merr try not to use as much product, you don't require loads any excess just dries thick producing the dust.
I've got about 3/4 litre left of Mer the blue bottle. I use it on my 350z. But then that's easy as its all one colour. Still might try the Meguires though. Il check the prices tomorrow
The colour that the product is being applied to doesn't really matter all that much tbh, the blue mer is a little harder to get on with tho than almost anything in the megs range. The newer mer range is a lot easier to use and no where near as prone to excess dusting(they got bought over by farecla) and consequently added and changed pretty much everything in the range. I always really liked their car shampoo mind you. If you are up to spending some pennies tho you really can't go wrong with the megs ranges just try not to eat any of it as it smells SO SO good! The autoglym products are also worth a look and not as costly as the megs stuff, the super resin polish is really good at filling/hiding small scratches and swirls in paintwork and the hd wax is really easy to use and gives a good finish too.
Black blades need!!!!! poor boys black hole polishing poor boys natty paste wax designed for black paintwork, not silly money either. very easy on and off. the wheel wax is great too stops the dust sticking

Black hole is not a polish it's a glaze, it's used to add lustre/glossiness to the paintwork but it would be best used after a polish(Poorboy's Professional Polish)! I would highly recommend sticking to the same brand of items as they are all designed to work together, where as other products could have things in them that effect something in the finish this can be things like glossiness or longevity or straight up remove other product due to its cleaner/oils used in its creation! Don't disagree black hole is good stuff but the OP mentioned halfords was where he was going to purchase his stuff from which don't sell any of PB's products.
I have been using Tescos pine fresh furniture polish. It does a good job and smells like your outdoors whilst your out on the bike

Just my opinion. Really does depend upon how much your prepared to spend on products and how much time prepping the paint and applying them. Detailers can spend a week "cleaning" a car at huge cost to the customer. Most of the milky look that some paint can have is old products that look ok at the time but then have this effect. Like wise, you can spend ages getting swirls out to then put them back on by cleaning, step one megs cleaner for example is designed to get the old products off the paint. Before this it may be worth claying the paint and machine mopping, depends upon the condition and how fussy you are. You may initially pay more for something, but it will last longer before another application is required (dependent upon what's used and how you treat the paint) I have a tub of glaze that I paid around £400 for. Sound loads but I used to show my Vw, only needs to be applied say twice a year and had it now for around 8 years. Lol, it's gone up! Zymol Destiny Glaze (226g) 150 There's loads of products out there and many will have differing views on them, based on how fussy we are about the finish, how much we are willing to pay and how much time and effort we're prepared I put in. Not personally used poor boys products, but have heard very good reports, Megs is good value for money and the 3 step stuff gives most of the products to prepare, polish and seal for I think 30 quid. They also do an all in one cleaner/polish for £9.99 that I've just used on my car to give it a quick once over, seems to work well and comes off really easily. One thing I would say is stay away from that turtle wax colour enhancing shite. As mentioned less product is more, don't clean the paint in the sun on when its hot and the applicators and cloths used are just as important as the actual product.
I have a 2012 in black. I get great results with Muc Off Miracle Shine wax. You do have to be carefully to get all the residue off but that's the same for all waxes isn't it?
