    HI

I’m looking to purchase a rear seat for my RR5 but I think the previous owner (the police) have buggered about with the internals and I need to work out How the original seat clips on, what they have done and what I need to do to put it back to standard to fit the seat.

To give you an idea when I remove the cowl all there is, is a flat metal plate with “something communications Ltd” sticker and two raised sections to clip the cowl to and the locking mechanism at the front.

    Now for the massive favour

Can someone with a standard RR5 or similar please post some photos of the insides of the “storage space” (under the seat or cowl) and try to include any parts the seat will clip to.

I know this is a lot to ask ans I'm pushing my luck but it would be a massive help to me and it would be very much appreciated.

    Thank in advance
    Shiny

    Hi Shiny.
    Basically you're looking at this:-
    [IMG]

the seat should hook into the bracket at the rear of the bike and then lock down into latch in the middle of the front metal bracket if that makes sense?

Shiny can I suggest that the people who butchered your blade were Sonic Communications based in Birmingham by the NEC. They do most covert fits for law enforcement, but they also do private and corporate bike fits etc, you could try phoning their vehicle installations team and asking if they have the bits in a spares room, or if they have the fit guide for that bike still available and they can tell you exactly what they removed.

    They're on +44 (0) 121 781 4400 or I think you can email them through the website.

    Too true! :D

I was pulled over last year north of Loch Lomond just for the Police officer to tell me and I quote

"I used to ride that bike (he looks around and whispered to me) I F*****G hated it" "How do you find it"

Me "I love it, its a great bike"

"Well you are a lot younger than me..........o'well ride safe!"

He waved and disappeared into the distance.

On the plus side 8000 miles on the clock, full service history, serviced every 500 miles and these bikes are still selling for £1K more than I paid a year and a half ago. So its not all bad

lol, I thought that it just looked like a piece of bent metal, but it looks easy enough to sort out. Buy the rear bit for the seat to hook in to and don't worry about the front bits as the latch should keep hold of the seat.
