This defiantly shows the Benefit of A2 license have you considered one of the bikes in that category until you have more experience???

Cheers shippers, i do like the bike the VTEC just takes a bit of getting use to, people are mentioning PC3 or the gucci PCV to sort out the jerkiness.... Might give that a go first. :)

It does take getting used to. Mine was a 2004 bike which was before Honda tried the phased cut in/out.

The 2008- Fireblade is unutterably smooth in comparison. Get one sharpish! A really remarkable vehicle.

The only things that I miss from the vtec are

    Decent fuel tank
    Decent lights
    Air temp gauge
    Classy colour schemes

And a centre stand, if I'm being fussy.

I had an 03 as my previous bike and to be honest I don't miss anything about it at all. The transition was downright dangerous on mine, especially mid corner. Maintenance was a royal pain in the behind with the 16k service taking roughly a minimum of ten hours and a £700 price tag. Even the fairings were a pain to take off.

In comparison the blade is everything I wanted the viffer to be and more. Easy to ride, easy to maintain, better mileage than I expected and bloody fast and nimble. Actually I also really like the fuel and air box cover being plastic so a makeover of the bike to a different colour scheme is relatively cheap and easy (note relatively).

I do have an 05 model as my first blade with a view to changing to he new shape in the not too distant. Having said that recent threads about bhp and Martin's trials and tribulations with his easy to remove cassette gearbox is making me think twice......thoughts??

My parents live in Dorset and the Fireblade mid-corner in the dark is horrible. And I have to refuel on the way. Irritating. And, riding it in all weathers, I like to know if it is around freezing as I'm not a good judge of these things.

Lovely solid colours on the vtec to show off the lines. Only black with Fireblade.

Centre stand handy for chain lube when out and about and parking in London.

Welcome to the forum matey, they are all right the blade is not the most comfy bike in the world but it is very easy to forget that once your going!
Just have to get use to stopping at intervals to do the knees bend arm stretch rah rah rah!
    :)
