Or you could just remember what gear you put it in P.S. I do like your idea better than an aftermarket gear indicator though.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA effing brilliant!! Sometimes when you're doing a 100 other things on the bike you can lose track of the gear you're in and a quick glance down fixes that straight away so you can get on with what you should be not flying at a corner wondering what gear you're in. Once you know the track you don't need one but for the road it's nice to not be reaching for 7th gear so often
The gear indicator arrived today and I'm pleased to say that I was wrong about having to pull the side fairing off to get at the diagnostic plug as it does indeed connect inline with the dash clocks plug, which simply meant removing the screen and hiding the wires behind it If anything that hard bit was programming as I was trying without the engine running, dohh!
Next weeks not looking good though............................. Spose every weeks a bonus at your age!
I do know how to spend a bonus tho but me old m8. Are you going to the DT open day this Saturday? It must be just down the road from you? I'd go meself but the bikes in for a sevice and the battery's fukt on me mobility scooter.
Funnily enough Andy O from DT rang me safto and asked the same thing as I'd ordered a Bike Ramp and Front Wheel clamp plus some Harris Stands and some GB racing covers etc etc Unfortunately I can't make it to the open day as we have a big job on at the mo running 7 days a week for 3 weeks and work comes first!
Hi mate my bike's a 2010 I would defiantly recommend the GIpro it's a plug 'n' play and looks sweet too http://1000rr.co.uk/mods-upgrades-accessories-products/11526-3.htm#post184688
Been having a look for one and there seems to be pros and cons to all of them. GiPro - Small and good reviews. Plugs into diag socket which means a fairing removal on an 07 and it a bit expensive. Accumen - Fits into back of clocks so only have to remove the screen, and appears that cables are interchangeable and so should be easy to move to another bike or sell on. Downside is the cable looks like it is an extra £40. PZ Racing - Cheapest, selectable colour and can get it from Demon Tweaks, but once again fits into the diag socket. At the moment I would have to say the PZ is top of the list unless I can get a used Gi Pro cheapish.
My mates pz one was a bitch to fit and is small screen and shite proformance it gets confused what gear your in more than he does lol I would avoid this one myself
Bearing in mind the sort of weather we have here make sure you check out which ones are waterproof & which are "water resistant"
For me a gear indicator is top of the list before anything else- exhausts, huggers etc I love them no more searching for that ghost gear!
