Just wondering, for those that have one fitted, how often you use it? For every gear change? 50%? 75% of the time?

Obviously all upshifts are not done at full throttle, so do you use it at half throttle?

you can set them to only come in at a certain rev limit, mine are usually around 6/7k,plus never use it from 1st-2nd,bit too harsh on the g/box.

Like others on here, don't use it 1st to 2nd, but other than that most changes - miss it when I ride a non-QS bike.

Best thing is when you sell bike you remove it and fit it to the next unlike cans etc.

so for the road it truly is pointless because if your using in from
2nd onwards say at 6k rpm you are already doing 88mph.

What exactly do they do? Descriptions above make it sound more like an auto?

In some ways they are, they cut the ignition when you change gear meaning no clutch required, giving quicker gear changes and you don't need to let of the throttle

I used to like listening to the road race bikes doing the pop's
when shifting, that would be one of the reasons I would have
    wanted one lol

it's essentially changing gear (up the box,not down) without any physical throttle closing,so when pressure is applied to the gear shifter,a sensor cuts the spark or fuel(depending on type) unloading the gear box and allowing the gear change.the idea is to be able to keep the throttle fully open longer during gear change so saving valuable tenths of a second per lap.you can do a very similar thing manually though.

when your changing gear, load the gear selecter as if your about to change gear and roll of the throttle very slightly, you'll find it'll pop into gear as the g/box unloads slightly without having to fully roll off.

q/s are very good bits of kit on track, and i do miss mine when i dont have it,but for the road, like a lot of things they are pointless, and can be very expensive if not set up right.(as with trackbikes aswell)

I use mine everyday on my commute, I am so used to it now I miss it when its gone so always fit one, its not a must have but then nor is a can or levers or half the stuff we pile on the bikes. On the blade i used it from 2nd gear onwards and the HM plus never missed a change

I am using mine ( HM SH Plus ) as much as I can, even on the road.
Its fun to ride and I never go back to "normal shifting" again.
Also I tried out the Quickshifter on the BMW S1000RR and BMW K1300S,
they are different on both bikes, especially on the K1300S.
