Yes I know full service history, but what does this mean? I do all the oil, filters, brakes etc. on my bike but when I come to sell it does it need to have been done by a dealership with receipts every 4K miles to say it has FSH??
drain! so even when I think I'm saving money doing it myself its only gonna sell for less in the long run... bad bad karma
Just keep all the receipts 'cos unless you're buying brake pads for fun, or physically drinking oil every year then it shows the new owner what's been done. And as for the service history, you know what Tesco say......
i serviced my last blade for its entire life...and when I came to sell it the dealer didnt give a shit. Ok, I admit it was 15 years old with nearly 80,000 miles on, lol so the moral is, service away and keep her till she's real tired
I just dont see the point in paying for something i can do myself even valve clearance i can get help from lads at work
The only abbreviations that get a price premium on sale on vehicles of less than 5 years old is MFSH (Manufacturer FSH) , MDFSH (Main Dealer FSH) or stating the manufacturer before FSH, in this case Honda FSH
Young Tyke, if you add up the £200+ per service, per 4000 miles, you'll lose far less money when you come to sell, even if you're offered £1000 less than the going rate because it doesn't have a FSH. I never have my bikes serviced by a dealer, just do it myself. Look at my trackbike with 41,000 miles on it!
I always do my own servicing (on my 8th Honda) and I've never had an issue when I part ex. Some dealers don't even ask about Service History, others are happy with receipts as proof that it has been done. Cheers, Ian.
Full service history to me can be any garage now when buying another bike or car.Self maintenance is ok providing the receipts are there to prove routine servicing has been carried out.FHSH means feck all to me after the last service I got from a Honda dealer.Fairing tabs broken and bolts not done up.As for cars main dealers have plenty of apprentices to do the mundane servicing nowadays. Some are good which is a tiny minority.Shame it tarnishes both markets.
Suppose you have to put yourself in a buyers place. Would you buy a 3 year old bike with no service stamps in a book but a full sleeve of receipts ? Just using this as a scenario.
i do my own servicing, keeping every receipt and putting down in a book, bought my present blade from a bikeshop and they did my 16000 mile service, first track day misfire when i took plugs out they were originals so probably did not do valve clearances, fsh means nothing anymore.
