I've started to use my Mk1 Fireblade to commute to work and I love it. Unfortunately I've worn the front tyre out, any recommendations on what make of 16 inch front tyre I should get? Or can get!

Well once again no one's able to help, or wants to! Not the first I haven't had a reply on here.

They're much more friendlier and helpful on the Ducati forum

    Major,
Please don't be disheartened by the lack of replies dude, just look out the window, peeps will either be riding the bikes or hitting the beer gardens.
It's just a matter of the right person to be signed in at the right time to see your question, it may also be true that no one genuinly knows the answer to your question? A lot of members come through various times day and night and many read new posts, I appreciate you bumping your thread so it doesn't get buried amongst the other stuff, however, negative comments made by yourself about other forum users will just get backs up. No one wishes to be told they are any less friendly or helpful than anyone else, if forum members take your comments like this? you'll then miss out on any potential genuine contributions you deserve to resolve your issue.

Yes but it's not the first time. Last time my post was ignored the weather was lousy and the beer gardens were empty. Please don't take it the wrong way and I do understand not every forum likes being told they are less helpful than other forums. But sometimes the truth does hurt and on this occasion it appears to have done just that

But at least I got a reply ;)

Don't be disheartened I've noticed that if you post late at night not many people see the post, yet if I post about 7pm I get a good response!

But in answer to your question I think you can still get Bridgestone 014's in 16 inch or perhaps take a look at this site for tyres, they have a range for your bike

Have you thought about swooping the front wheel? Perhaps someone can confirm but doesn't the old cbr600f 17inch wheel fit with little if no mods to the bike!

Evening mate, i've been out on the bike and away so unable to post. In the end if people do not have the answer then they cannot help. So people are not ignoring you just may not be able to help mate.

For example I have no idea on a 16" front and would need to Google to find our more myself

Don't feel people are ignoring you. it's a forum and if people do not have the answer they don't always post as they can't help

Re the ducati forum. If they can help better with your question than they must have people who have had more older blades than the people on here.

But please if you feel other forums are more helpful and friendly than here, fell free to visit them more often. i'm on many and don;t know any as helpful or friendly as here.

We can only try and hep when we know the answer.

    stand aside chaps!
its super zipster to the rescue!!

in all seriousness the best rubber you can put on your 16" is Bridgestone BT016
they are fantastic and last a fair good while, I had the old blade until last year and rated BT010 then they were fazed out and after numerous brands found the BT016 to be awesome.

ps: sorry for delay, been out in sun and generally vegging out. hope this helps tho

ps: Major you got to realise these young whipper snappers on here mostly have the newer blades (1000rr.co.uk after all not 899 or 917 for that matter)
they are a good solid bunch, but no point posting if you aint got an answer, and tbh sometimes posts get buried, I never saw yours last night but ...bing...there it is this evening.

PPS: im so jealous you still have the mk1, wicked bike...imo leave that 16" front where she is, feels great in the corners once you got good hoops on!

    Love to all blades Brother.

    ppps: still jealous lol

I have had a RRX from new (60K now) and did run Bridgestones, usually the sport tyre on the front 016 and a 021/3 rear, Bridgestone approve this combo. I did run a set of Avon Storms but I think they stopped making these in the 16" front, they lasted a bit longer but felt a bit less sporty.
I changed to a 17" front last year and now have Roadsmarts on which are great, the bigger front wheel very slightly slowed down the turn in but it feels much more precise everywhere else, the only comparison i can come up with would be using a blunt knife and a sharp knife...if you see what I mean.

Regarding lack of response I can sympathize, I did a trip reprort last year and had a few "like's" and that was pretty much it, I put the same report on another forum for a different bike and had quite a good response. Maybe it was badly written, but some sort of feedback would have been usefull.

    Good luck with the tyre

Had the RRV meself but had to px her with about 80,000 miles on her as i was fixing more electric stuff than riding her...oh and tbh i lusted after a repsol for years!
speaking personally re trip reports, I never post many comments after them..out of envy lol

Good on you for keeping the ol girl running, let me know if you ever need a set of 'Morgan' Carbtune mercury balancers.

Thanks for that, the ol girl is running as well as ever, just got back from a 3200 mile trip to the Alps and it never missed a beat, I still enjoy riding it as much as my 08, two Blades but totally different, thats what i keep telling her in doors anyway.....

I think the Bridgestone s20 is available in a 16", shipmate.

The front is currently an Avon Storm but it's started to crack through age. Thinking about it I will keep the 16inch wheel as I want to keep the Blade as original as possible. The rear is a Bridgestone Battlax BT021, would a Bridgestone Battlax BT016 match it Okay?

Yeah I used that combo for a while to try and get more mileage at the rear without losing front grip! Officially you will be sneered at but it worked fine for me.

General rule of thum is to have a stickier front compared to the rear, look at the Bridgestone website for options.

Another tyre may be a Maxxis, not sure which one but they are cheaper..

This was my RRN - Sold her last year :(

She had BT016 front & rear; no complaints.
