    Hi guys

I am sure this has been covered before but this is my first time

I´m able to source locally a cheap PC III 117-410. According to dynojet support it will fit the 06 blade connectors wise but of course will not run properly with the default map.

Only add ons I have fitted are the older akrapovic no db killer round titanium slip on (not the oval one) and a pair of k&n air filters. I run the bike on 98 octane fuel.

I am planning to insert the pc 125-004 map

Will I have problems sending this map to that unit ?

    Additional thoughts are welcome

    thks in advance

Ok so this is what I found out

    - received pc III usb 117-410, it´s the same as 117-411 and it´s for the cbr600rr / 2005
    - I hand made an adapter for 9v battery with wires to both + and - pins according to the many pics available with google search: with the unit upside down the right top pin is the + and the lower left id the -
    - If I fit a 9v battery communication is lost randomly
    - So I took out the 9v battery and inserted a mains adapter supplying 9v to the pins, this way comms are constant with no dropouts! go figure
    - My firmware is 1.0.0.18 and because it is lower than 1.0.0.20 I cannot update firmware. I would need the pc programmer and that´s not available anywhere to my knowledge unless I find a dyno center close by with one
    - If I load a cbr1000rr map I will not send to the unit "error sending map, incompatable (yes it is written this way!) map version 156!=185"
    - But I can send the cbr1000rr table ! so in the end result is the same, I get a cbr1000rr map onto the cbr600rr unit

Next step is to fit it to the bike

    ah. yes.

i think you are using the wrong usb cable mate.
ive had this exact same issue.

the correct cable is available from dj - or just have a look which one it is (usb-a or usb-b iirc) then get one off ebay for peanuts. HTH

tbh i wouldnt bother trying to programme it until it's on the bike.
    easy enough.
let us know if you have any probs as ive done a fair bit with these, modding maps etc

    hi vv

what u mean wrong usb cable ? I have dozens different types laying around, its a plain pc-usb to mini usb cable I´m using just like any other, comms are good
thing is on the pc site in the firmware instructions for pcIIIusb they clearly write if your firmware version is lower than 1.0.0.20 (mine is 1.0.0.18) you have to resort to the programming box, the usb cable won´t be enough and the firmware update option is greyed out on the pc main applicatiob

trying a different path, the firmware utility pciiiusbreprogrammer can load the updated firmware.dfu but pressing the usb firmware button to program it returns error, makes sense since this is supposed to use the prog box, as per the instructions related to firmware versions

    Well I´ll update myself here

fitted the cbr600 pcIII to the cbr1000 with no problem at all ! sockets are the same, lengths also compatible
Cannot send a straight cbr1000 map but can send a table which basically is the same as I don´t fine tune for each cylinder so now I have the factory 125-004 map running
low and mid range is smoother, and over 6000rpm there more visible power
anyway mileage has gone down a bit, before I was getting 6.1 liters per 100km now I get 7 liters per 100km
next step is taking it for a proper tuning on dyno

if anyone needs directions fitting this let me know
