    Afternoon All,

I will be doing a weekly commute between Wales and Kent, which is approx a 400 mile round trip, most of it on the M4 and M25.

I would appreciate any suggestions as to the best tyre for the job.

I hear the Michelin Pilot Road 3s are good. I had the Plot Road 2s on my K1300s, got 5000 miles out of them and still had life in them when I sold it. Some will say they ain't for super sports, but you don't appear to need them for that, your just going up and down and motorway.

Not sure how helpful this is, probably more information will come from those more experienced than me

Tyres do tend to be a subjective topic and each rider seems to like different characteristics.

But the general consensus is the Michelin road pilot 3, Bridgestone bt023(not sure about newer version t20 I think) also lots of folks like the dunlop roadsmarts or the more sport orientated sportsmarts get decent mileage too.

I'd be tempted to try the pirelli angel gt for that type of riding, had the angel st on my 600RR and couldn't fault them for touring.

Pilot road3s if you want both grip and mileage, daily commuting and pleasure riding, I cant believe I am 7.5k in, 3 punctures and they still have not squared off, and edge grip is very good.

To compare the last tyres were BT16pros, and i got 1.5k out of the rear.

    Definately Michelin PR3's!

I've had em on my Blade and they are good for around 5-5.5K miles.
They grip amazingly well Wet or Dry.

Only swapped em out as wanted some super sticky rubber for Track Days and a slightly better ride at the rear.

For big mileage Motorway runs you'd be daft to look elsewhere!

£250 fitted and an ACE looking Tread pattern to boot, what's not to like?

I go for Power Pures (now Power Sport 3's) and get well over 5000 miles in all conditions and on Euro road trips and they are as solid a performer as you can get in a tyre, so the PR3s will be at least as awesome a commuting tyre as those. Excellent choice, sir!

    Pr3's or maybe Metzeler Z8's.

My pr3's lasted ages. And manfully resisted my attempts to square them.

I'm glad people are rating PR3's. I loved the PR2's on my Triumph Tourer, but on my Sports Bike, they were shite. I have a feeling it's got something to do with rake. That the hard centre compound is still in contact as you lean.
On my ZX-9R in the wet the PR2's were totally vague. But on the Triumph Awesome.
Some Numpty put BT023's on my blade, I hate them. Probably for the same reason I hated PR2's on a ZX-9R. Same lack of feel from the front.

But I do want the stickiest of the ST tyres so I can ride on motorways, as I ride a lot of distance as well as sport.

I've got two choices, never ride on a motorway and get the right tyres for the bike.
OR hope that PR3's are less vague on lean than BT023's and PR2's. OR that some bright spark who rides like me and likes to corner fast but also rides distance has got another ace recommendation.

Got the pr3's on my r1, toured with them this summer covering 2800 miles incl a few laps of the ring and nine days of erm fastish riding on everything from sweeping a roads to hairpin passes...

Haven't used them in the wet in nearly 4k beleive it not buy seen Andy completely terrorise Scotland on a set lol

Other than slight warm up rate being slower for the road I can honestly say they are awesome. Pegs ground out and as much lean as I can get and never have the tyres given anything but great feel and feedback! No drop in performance from so called sportier tyres IMO.

And I reckon I'll get 5k out of the rear... Will change the front at same time tbh as it's wearing at similar rate which is a bit odd. But still great value for money...

Here's mine after nipping out for a Chinese Friday night lol

Wasn't convinced they would be ok tbh, but after wrecking an s20 in just over 1k needed something to last for the trip.

Totally converted and for the road, they are brilliant.
